I have limited time to post stuff on-line. I find my Facebook time takes away from the forum. I'm erring on the side of Facebook. And anyone who wants to friend me on FB, please tell me your handle because I don't know everyone's name. Also, I only friend people I actually have met face to face, so no reason to take the cold shoulder personally. :p

Erring????? Perhaps prioritizing! :dntknw:

One would think that if they went looking for you on facebook, James Burleigh wouldn't work in the search.... ;)

And, J.B., this is the FJR forum where we take everything personally! :bleh:

Facebook to me is a way to check on my teens and what they are posting.

Gunny, that. Especially helpful with my youngest, the girl and her 18 y/o angst

Also, it's a place I can communicate freely, which this place does not allow.

As for face to face? I only knew Andre (TwoWheeledTiger) thru here and Facebook, and I count myself fortunate to have known him even just on that level. When my dad was dying of leukemia (and eventually after his death) Andre did actually know what my dad was going thru, and myself. His private words of understanding and consolation were heartfelt and much appreciated. He helped me more than he'll ever know.

my 2 cents, YMMV

I agree, B

I know Hans and I are keeping fairlainer honest over there.. And Mike, Barb Tyler an MEM are on me butt most of the time. :p

My wife loves farmville, which I call gayville. She literally spends an average of 3 hours a day harvesting "crops," finding pigs, building barns, etc...

Though it is tempting to set up a facebook page so I don't loose touch with friends, I already spend countless hours reading this and ADV and I really don't want to get into anything else.

And then there's all the privacy/security issues that have become a problem recently...

I have a few people on Facebook that I feel can handle me. I am uncensored there.

I try to keep FJR related stuff here, and personal friends there. The few FJR peeps I have and not met are great, and looking forward to meeting them. :)

I guess playing farmville will come in handy post apocalypse, since a lot more people will know how to farm. :glare:

BTW, what's facebook?

I'm right there with you. Enough crap already taking too much of my time to even think about starting a FB account. Suppose we're in the minority. Also, the less people that can find me, probably the better.

Shoot JB, sorry to hear that. Your writing and stories here are one of the great draws of this forum.

I have a FB account but hardly ever go to it. The drivel my "friends' (oh how I wish I had been more selective) put there is ridiculous. Is there a way to quietly "unfriend" people? I don't want to be unfriendly, just not have to waste time with their inanities.

Don't go away JB, we're friends too, all be it quiet ones.

Oh yeah, what the heck is farmville?

7X

I'm "Jim Boone"; look me up and befriend.

I'll put my profile pic back to me+FJR in front of the Deal's Gap sign from last yr for easier ID.

.............someone has to whip you into disobedience now and then

You know I'm usually kinda stand back when I see this stuff............

But the thought of the four of you on his back scares me!

My "handle" in real life is Chris Purney. We met under unfortunate circumstances JB, it was at Andrew Knight's funeral.

BTW - Having a "smart" phone helps keep current with both FB and the forum. During breaks from work, I can do a quick check of my email (I have several subscribed threads in the forum) and FB in less than five minutes.
