Talk about failure to look cool! I was making a U-turn in a narrow alley the other day. I was standing on the outside peg and really honking her around until the front wheel got caught in a storm drain. Took a nice low-speed, low-side dismount in front of a bunch of smartass skateboarders. The kids were most helpful and sympathetic after the fact. But now I'm faced with a bunch of rather deep scratches on my front fender and right side bag. Anyone have any experience buffing these away or somehow filling them and polishing them out? Maybe repainting? Is that even paint on those surfaces?

Scratch filler from Pep Boys (or similar)

Auto paint - don't forget the clear coat.

It's hard to get a factory-like finish at home.

or

Find a new fender and bag on EBay

or

Wear the badges of honor proudly, as they fend off further scratches.

Your choice.

Option No. 3 has a lot going for it. I still regret making the insurance people buy my old leather jacket after it took a trip across the asphalt with me and saved my shoulder and back. That thing had character after that, but I was hell-bent to make the insurance co. for the ***** who rear-ended me pay the max. In this case, I'm the only ***** involved.

If you want to repair and repaint but don't have the skill yourself, contact member Garauld. He may be able to do it for you and his reputation is that he does excellent work for a good price.

Gunny that, I was going to throw out the Garauld option.

Sorry about the drop, it sucks when that happens, but it happens.

The colorite paint is freeking expensive....

No frame sliders?

Just ride the sucker!! But come up with a better story of how it happened!! Like doing a power slide under a semi trailer through an intersection?

Chicks dig scars! Don't believe me, ask Scab...

I picked up a tube of Dupli-Color scratch fix at the local auto parts store for $4.95. It's not a perfect match to my baby blue, but what did you expect for five bucks! (part # TY01612)
