...Wish we could meet the family but your on a mission. Have a ball and tell the boys not to pick up any spare change on the ground while your in the city.
I heard it's okay to do that if you take the age old advice to bend at the knees...not the waist.

Frankly, best to advise them not to bend over at all when they're in the city. :dribble:

Wheatie Warning: If you take the family to see "Gay Gulch" at the corner of Polk & Castro, don't give this panhandling street bum any money, he'll follow you everywhere!

If you decide to rent a car, try and rent off the airport. There is a big difference in cost picking up a car at the airport vs one mile away. They levy an airport tax that sucks. Have fun here, your plan sounds great.

Pulling out of Mariposa pretty soon...had a great time in SF and Muir Woods, then an awesome time in the Sequoias(sp) near Yosemite, then two days in the Valley and Glacier Point. Off to see pops in Goleta now...Thanks to all for your suggestions and tips for this trip. They have come in extremely handy. THANKS!

NOW you know why none of us are in a hurry to leave. ;) And YOU were in a car!

I'm glad you were able to bring the family our here and enjoy some of our majestic scenic places. Making memories...it's a good thing. :clapping:

Had a little time today to download photos of the trip from the camera...so here are a few of the pictures taken.

San Francisco (thanks to Mark/Broke-your-fork for the parking garage tip!)

I noticed that one of the things that impressed me the most on the trip were the Redwoods and the Sequoias. However, they were the least impressive in photos. You just never get the scale of the thing and the beauty of the surrounding woods. After SF, we headed to Yosemite and on the northwest corner of the Park, there is a park with a short walk- a mile- to some gigantic Sequoias.

...but it must not nearly be as big as we thought as it is clear that my daughter can easily wrap her arms around it...

We didn't head into the Valley that day, but enjoyed the road to Mariposa from the Park. Would have been great to have been on the feeger then. That and the road from 101 to Muir Woods north of SF. ;) My wife reminded me that we were not on the FJR and that we really didn't need to lean into the turns in the minivan. :D

Yosemite. That Park is awesome. Falls, high cliffs, 360 degree views.

We then headed down to visit my Dad in Goleta. They put us up in a nice motel near them

2012Kalitrip301.jpg

Had a chance to visit with them for a bit...then we took them out to there favorite beach side restaurant. Great food there as well.

After dinner, my second son wanted to take a dip in the nice warm Pacific ;)

The next day, we headed up the coast to Morro Bay, San Simeon and my little vacation home on the coast...

A little overcast at Morro Bay

2012Kalitrip304.jpg

We were lucky though, it cleared up a little bit to make it a nice sunny day. Goleta had a marine layer until late in the afternoon both days. Thanks to KJ the previous year for giving me the tour of this beautiful part of the coast.

The last full day in Kali, we said goodbye to our little vacation spot and headed up the coast, saw some seals, some beautiful coast, and stopped at Monterrey to check on my fish tank.

Coast (yawn) just kidding

Thanks to all who helped make this trip go so smoothly for us! It was very much appreciated! :clapping:

It was a great trip :yahoo: Even if it was on 4 wheels.

Looks like you all had a fun trip. :clapping:

Glad you could show your family the coast with some beforehand knowledge of the terrain. :cowboy:

Aldus Huxley once said about William Randolf Hearst "God would have made the earth look like this, but he didn't have enough money."

I once had a swim opportunity in this pool but it wasn't what I expected, it wasn't heated = :cold:
