Had a little time today to download photos of the trip from the camera...so here are a few of the pictures taken.
San Francisco (thanks to Mark/Broke-your-fork for the parking garage tip!)
Chinatown

Muir Woods
GG Bridge in the late afternoon
I noticed that one of the things that impressed me the most on the trip were the Redwoods and the Sequoias. However, they were the least impressive in photos. You just never get the scale of the thing and the beauty of the surrounding woods. After SF, we headed to Yosemite and on the northwest corner of the Park, there is a park with a short walk- a mile- to some gigantic Sequoias.
Family in front of one of them...
...but it must not nearly be as big as we thought as it is clear that my daughter can easily wrap her arms around it...
The family on and alongside a tree that fell down a few years ago after a heavy snowstorm.
First view of Half-Dome as we drive down towards the Valley from the north.
We didn't head into the Valley that day, but enjoyed the road to Mariposa from the Park. Would have been great to have been on the feeger then. That and the road from 101 to Muir Woods north of SF.
My wife reminded me that we were not on the FJR and that we really didn't need to lean into the turns in the minivan.
Yosemite. That Park is awesome. Falls, high cliffs, 360 degree views.
Vernal Falls-during the great hike to get there
Horseback riding...somebody loves horses.
View of the Valley from Glacier Point
Nevada Falls and Vernal Falls
The family
In the hot tub at the end of the day
We then headed down to visit my Dad in Goleta. They put us up in a nice motel near them
Had a chance to visit with them for a bit...then we took them out to there favorite beach side restaurant. Great food there as well.
After dinner, my second son wanted to take a dip in the nice warm Pacific
The next day, we headed up the coast to Morro Bay, San Simeon and my little vacation home on the coast...
A little overcast at Morro Bay
We were lucky though, it cleared up a little bit to make it a nice sunny day. Goleta had a marine layer until late in the afternoon both days. Thanks to KJ the previous year for giving me the tour of this beautiful part of the coast.
The family in front of the Rock (a volcano plug according to the geologists...the volcano has already weathered away)
Cars lined up at the beach on the north side of the Morro.
Further on up the coast towards my vacation getaway
Yes, David can't get enough of the water...a little chilly I think.
Christine feeding the local Kali asking for handouts (again)
My family retreat...nice ain't it?
The view
More structure (yawn)
The cement pond
The last full day in Kali, we said goodbye to our little vacation spot and headed up the coast, saw some seals, some beautiful coast, and stopped at Monterrey to check on my fish tank.
Coast (yawn)
just kidding
Seals at the beach on Hwy 1 north of San Simeon
They are alive, I swear I did not shoot them.
Fishies
jellies
Thanks to all who helped make this trip go so smoothly for us! It was very much appreciated! :clapping:
It was a great trip :yahoo: Even if it was on 4 wheels.
