So I got a few bucks saved up. I need the advice of experienced farkle meisters. Of these three choices what would be the order in your opinion, 1st, 2nd, 3rd?

Some cans for that rumbly sound that will attract the chicks and impress the dudes

Power Commander for that smooth throttle response and eliminate those bothersome vibes

Radar detector for my disturbingly frequest triple-digit freeway jaunts

Other suggestions welcome.

Thanks, Jet

Got risers (and man-horns). I don't often ride far. Just fast. So I don't really need the seat or windscreen. But sliders... there's one to add to the list. B)

Greetings from Queen Anne . . .

Seriously think about getting a custom seat from Rich's on Aurora

Slider/Tip Over Guards are handy.

Ergo2 Throttle tube makes a big difference and is cheap.

That would be my top three

If you get a radar detector, I'd vote for Valentine

My farkle list is in the signature bar

For me it was:

1) Frame Sliders

2) Power Commander

3) V-Stream windshield

4) next will be a Bill Mayer seat

in between were other farkles including:

Vista-Cruise throttle lock

Koso heated grips

Aerostitch lambs wool seat pad (used sporatically)

1. I cannot imagine taking a bike off the stealership floor without sliders at least on order.

2. I cannot imagine why I would ride without the RD. Just as soon pilot the cager!

3. Tall (CeeBailey +4 +4 w/flip my choice for the 05) eliminates the need for earplugs and changes the entire cockpit experience.

I'm assuming you already have MP3 piped into the lid.

1 Sliders

2 Cans

3 Bigger shield for wintery time

I'm in Seattle too. Any idea on pricing and Rich's capabilities? I've heard good things, but how much did the custom seat REALLY help.

(Sorry, but I find that peeps tend to continue to justify expensive purchase in their heads, even if the experience wasn't terrific.)

Farkles? My GPS is mounted, the Techmounts are installed, and the CC is going in this week. Sliders are on order. No need for a radar detector (they seem to cause speeding on my bikes).

It's an FJR, what else does it need?

The FJR might change that characteristic for you ;)

Last night I went on a ride as a stress reliever. I left at 6 and got home at 10 after 4 hours of the more intense twisties in the Sierra. I was really, really glad to have my custom saddle. The stock seat would have been killing me. The stock suspension was toast on mine after 15,000 miles.

That said, everyone has their own prioritization :)

I luuuuuuuuuuvvvvvee my tall windshield,

But as for me - if it isn't 12V powered, I usually pass - except for the BMW grips and the Vista Cruise - oh yeah the Gen Mars and touring trunk and ....

Cans-waste

Power C-Try new plugs, TB sync and get back to us

Radar...not a bad idea!

Personally, I have none of these and won't bother with anything except the radar, but unless you can truly hear/see it, it's worthless. Which begs other mods.

If you don't go real far, but like to go fast, consider brake upgrades, suspension upgrades, and good riding gear head to toe. Also life insurance upgrade:)

And the radar may save your license, so go for it provided you have a means to actually know that it's warning you. The seat would be nice if you are uncomfy, but for short rides, it shouldn't be needed.

Sliders would be a good choice too. And if you truly ride fast, nothing beats a fresh set of rubber and fresh brake pads.

Opinions are like a$$holes. Everyone's got one.

This is a question that you are going to have to answer for yourself my friend. Nobody on this board is going to think like you, or desire the same mods as you. We're all different in that regard.

Good luck.

Got that right, LOL! Lots of opinions here that show all the different ways folks use these bikes. All great input.

I picked up a PCIII at a good price off the forum. Been playing with it this weekend.

I like Yamaholic's suggestions which are more in tune with the way I use the bike. So probably sliders next, then maybe some riding boots (I ride with cowboy boots), then tires followed by RD, etc.

I got like over a million $ in life insurance plus the house, etc that goes into a trust for my kids. So yeah, I'm covered!

hmmmm..... Forget the cans. Havent tried the PCIII but I might for smoothness. Radar detector would be first on that list for me, but it might give me too much of a false sense of security.

As for my a$$hole-like-opinion... Heres what I've got.

1 auto-enable device for the hand shifter

2 have bigger screen, and want an even bigger one.

3 Fred H. shim+G2 ergonomics tube. And grip puppies.

4 Audiovox CC.

5 A seat cover. Can be made in 1 hour from whatever you favorite material is. I chose ultra-thick double layered fleece material. So far so good. Price $7 and material for a spare!

Note all of these are cheap mods cuz I spent too much on my motorcycle to afford my wish list...

1 suspension upgrades

2 brake upgrades

3 One of every windshield to try out.

4 Helmet audio and quiter helmet.

5 PCIII
