Farkeling out a 2007 FJR. V stream wind shield, highway pegs, radiator guard, moto lights, MC Cruise control, grip puppies, moto sliders and Wild Hair bar end weights were the first additions. New Heli bar arrive looking good. Couldn't wait to tackle install, however one small snag. No parts house in this area has a 36 mm socket (required for steering head nut). Am now resigned to waiting for one I ordered on the net. Also have a power commander in route from Power Racing. Only problem is I don't know what to do with it when it arrives. Forum scuttlebutt says it is necessary to smooth out the FJR power delivery. Does it come from the manufacturer pre-programed for a stock FJR or does it require further programing? If so where does one find the programs?

Roadlizard - I got mine (36mm socket) either at AutoZone or some other car place, wasn't hard to find.

Most auto parts stores will have them because they're a standard size for axles. You may have to look in a nonstandard place, though. In Pep Boys, for example, they're not with all the sockets. They're hanging by the axle tools and other such esoterica. Ask somebody if you can't find one.

Power commander: simple answer: plug n' play

You don't list any farkles that should make a difference over what is PC stock program.

If you change the exhaust system - do a SEARCH for more info.

Have fun

If you haven't noticed any problems then why bother with a PC?

Don't fix some thing that aint broke

advance auto parts carries the 36mm socket. I just bought one for my Sierra K1500 front hub. I think they were $7. In the tool section.

[often, as I read these posts, I'll run out to the garage to verify something I just read about my bike]

I just ran out to the garage and, sure enough, I have a 36mm socket, though I cannot remember why I bought it. Not exactly a socket that is used every day.

My best oddball socket is a Craftsman 1 and seven-eighths. It's huge. That I bought to remove the countershaft sprocket from my Sportster '91 and convert it to belt drive. Used only that once. It looks like it would work for lug nuts on a Boeing 747
