I have Foremost (Sacramento) and it went up to $744/year when I told them I put on more than $12,000/year.

Now I am shopping myself.

Hey ORANGEVALEFJR - What has your investigation turned up so far?

I take it you meant to say 12,000 miles/year, right? Is it happy hour already?

$12000, Thats a lot of farkles :haha:

Geico last year quoted me $360, yesterday they quoted me $740. I guess I'll stay with GMAC $542. I have extra liability and $250 deductables. I'am an old fart with a clean record. :cownoy:

Farmers insurance Co has gone mad on a nationwide basis.....The principle reason for doing so was they were sold by BAT to Zurich insurance Co........A German based Co which happens to be the biggest in the world....Farmers parimid type of operations resulting in them hiring inferior agents which in return lead to insure most of the worse risk out there......

Zurich has responded by re-underwriting using Credit Scoring (which may be the culprit here) and implementing strong across the board rate increases.

In otherwords, Farmes is not your daddy's insurance co....

State Farm is the place to go.......or carry liability only for $90 a year.

Highlander, I currently pay $524.00 per year for the HD from Progressive and they cover what the bike is really worth, not what the going price is in the paper, and also they provide $1000.00 dollars towards riding equipment like helmets and leathers and the total amount of farkles you've added to the bike. This is full coverage which I believe is $100.00 deductable. When I add the new FJR in May, coverage will be reduced on both bikes because of multiple vehicle discount. I talked to them several months ago and they quoted me a rate very similar to the HD. I talked to every major company and Progressive was definetly the cheapest but you have to make payments for 4 months from the date you sign up only. Not allowed to pay month to month. Otherwise you can pay the whole year all at once. And they don't require a payment in the month of Dec. I've turned several of my friends on to Progressive and they have each saved several hundred dollars a year by making the change. I was paying State Farm over $1200.00 a year and they would only cover bikes on customers who were already insured with them. They never had towing for bikes and covered no extra equipment at all. I've used Progressive one time for a tow and the company registerd to them was not available to respond because they were all making a tow and so Progressive sent another local company to tow me and I was reimbursed with no problems. Normally you pay no up front money for a tow. Hope this helped. Painman.

You must remember that this current administration is in the back pockets of the Insurance industry, thus the insurance industry has gotten approval in the GOP controled states anyway, allowing them to base Insurance rates not only on MVRs, but now they can use CREDIT SCORING along with claim data insurance companies are now keeping and sharing with each other................What this all means is a total screwing for John Q public... But, in reality what else is new?

I sugggest and I do carry liability only which runs me around $90/year..........and just forget full coverage.....If your lender is requiring full coverage, either try to re-finance with Yamaha Financial or sell the bike and finance the new one with Yamaha financial who only requires Liability coverage......

Yea, I know this is a big chunk of change for most of you, but it doesn't make sense to spend $1000plus/yr on insurance for a 1 or 2 yr old motorcycle that's worth 9,000 - 10,000 (see curent selling prices on ebay which is what the claim adjustors use to establish Actual Cash Value) and this same Bike in a couple of more years will only have a value of $5,000-7,000. Let us not forget the $1,000 deductible either........It just don't make sense guys. And the rates are only going up.....

My liability rate vs. full coverage is not that much to worry about. I even lowered the deductable and the rate wasn't that much different. I use Progressive but to each his own. I get a savings by having 2 bikes insured with them vs. 1. I just don't want to hassel with trying to come up with a large amount in case of an accident as my income is limited. Just my personal view. Painman.

I have been wanting a FJR for some time now so I decided to ask about insurance !!!!

Progressive wants $1400.00 per year, my current company said they can not promise since I can't provide them with a vin # but they would say $$460.00 per year would be a good guess, Oklahoma Farm Bureau. I think I need to get my buddy's FJR vin # and see what it would cost to insure his 04 FJR then increase it some for a 06.

hey sl 1300 give GEICO a try. That is who I have, they quoted a annual premium of 450.00 full coverage--max liability, collision, comp and um w/2k in farkle coverage and 2k med pay. I have a 1k collision ded and a 500 comp ded. This is on my 04 w/ABS, I'm 46 and so far ticket and accident free. Rates of course will vary based upon numberous factors--too many to mention, but good luck! Insurance--a necessary evil

I just received my renewal notice, it went from about $600 a year to $1300 for no reason at all, no accidents , no tickets, and my home is insured by them ! :angry03: Anyone else have a huge jump? Looks like I'm shopping for a new carrier next week!

Cali insurance suggestions are welcome !
Sounds like you may be helping the Katrina and Rita victims whether you chose to or not.

Geico is 1/2 what Progressive quoted me...now checking 21st Century in Sacramento area and will let you know...
GEICO uses portions of your fees to lobby for more constraints on you as a rider, donates radar guns to smaller PDs, and a host of things that you'd probably not choose to have your money spent on. They have you complete a form that asks if you use a radar detector. If, for any reason, you are noted as having one on/in any vehicle (covered by their policies or not) they will drop your coverage on the spot and refuse to pay any on-going/pending claim. They will use a "falsifying an application" defense if you challenge their actions.

After 20 years with them I moved on to other companies even though it initially cost me more in premiums.

Which is better than being in the back pocket of the red chinese and allowing sub prop designs to be stolen so that their subs became orders of magnatude quieter (and harder to track). Could the real issue be mandatory insurance while allowing those without insurance that are operating vehicles to walk away without jail time for a first offense? It's either mandatory or it's not yet this practice has taken place across multiple administrations. If you want to turn it political, remember that Democrats and Republicans as just differents sides of the same coin. Falling into a red/blue trap is just a distraction to keep you busy while power-the-greater and power-the-lesser play tag-team against your Constitutional Rights.

BTW: Dairlyland, 100/300/50 full coverage, 250 deduct: $275 a year. I suspect that Dailyland's policies in OK will be similar. Always remember to compare the FJR to a Kawasaki Concours or a BMW R1150RT when talking to your agent (TOURING with factory hard bags - just leave the "sport" reference out).

That raised a red flag for me. Also I read that they supply the actual radar units to many PD's in an effort to promote safety on your streets.
Promote safety...tell me where the relation is for that. I personally dislike LEOs and I frankly do not give a rats butt on their safety factors. Cops are just cops and now they can legally bully you on the streats just because they have a badge.

Insurance rates go up if you get a ticket. Tell me where the relation on that is? oh, but if you go to traffic school, you will not get a point, but the court makes more money. Well screw them all and this crappy nonsense. I see more cops on the streets with their Gaydars on than stopping some drug dealer on the corner.

Let me tell you how I really feel!

FYI, I have 21st and it is about 800 a year.

BigD.

Dont understand the problems some are having in CA. I am 54 and pay $100 a year for my K75 through AIS (minimum coverage - no collision), about $325per year for an 04 Deuce Softail (Progressive - full coverage), and I just bought (hold the applause) and insured an 04 FEJR for $450 (full coverage - $500 deduct) through Progressive on-line. I have the cars through Farmers and they cant come close for the bikes.

I think somebody been blowing smoke up your dress grasshopperson.....what the bike is really worth is what the going price is on paper, and I'm talking wholesale.......is called ACV or actual cash value.....The Agreed value limit you refer to in Progressive's policy is nothing more than a cap maximizing the dollar limit Progressive is liable for in case the ACV happens to be more.

The policy reads something like this: The insurance carrier will pay the Actual Cash value subject to a maximum amount shown as the Agreed value. Or whatever is less...........

It's the way all insurance policies read.....you wannt guess what I do?
