Well I heard it just might rain here in California (please, we need it badly), so I needed some more "bonding" time with my Cherry. First day I rode the "63 miles of bliss" that is Hwy. 25.

Day 1 Map

Going south from Hollister is a cruiser's paradise. There are a few twisty areas to keep you awake but mostly long stretches of open road as far as the eye can see. Beautiful "painted" rural landscapes cover the valley and not a person in sight. You can't help but wanting to see what your bike can do on such long stretches of empty road :)

A quick downshift to 4th and I wind her up to about 8k and hit 5th. After I hit 100 the mph reading on my GPS increased slower and my heartrate faster. I hit 128 on my gps (the Yamaha speedometer read 135) and I got chicken as the tiny spec of a yellow sign in the distance quickly got larger. At full throttle at those speeds mph go up slowly. I bet if I had the bags off and windshield fully down (in full lay down position) I may have hit 150, however I'm not sure if I should be concerned about my Bridgestones at those speeds or not. Anyways besides being a great dragstrip there is a National Park in the middle Pinnacles. I stopped there to eat my lunch and wasn't too impressed by the park, probably because I was on a paved road. Looking at the maps it looked a beautiful park to hike and once hiked out a couple of miles there were views of this cool volcanic mountain. No way I was going to hike, it was in the 80's (IN FEB.) and I was still dressed for the 50 degree weather I left SF in. Instead of taking a boring freeway ride back home, I decided to head south to Paso Robles and spend the night in Morro Bay

It was a cooler beautiful coastal setting to stay the night. Plus they have a big volcanic rock that looks like the rock of Gibraltar.

I had a nice sunset out my motel window

I took Hwy. 1 on day 2 to head home. I must have rode Hwy. 1 thru Big Sur a half dozen times and its awe inspiring everytime.

The purpose of this trip was really to break-in some new deerskin gloves I purchased and the gloves feel great now :yahoo:

Let the rain come now

Am I just weird? or do any of you guys (and gals), no matter how tired you are when you get home after a long ride, give your bike a hug and say "Thanks for keeping me safe". Then immediately clean all those nasty bug guts off the front of the bike.

I am down with appreciating the bike and thanking for helping me through another safe ride. As for the bugs, I am prone to leaving them on the bike for extended periods as evidence of the adventure and warning to all other buggly invaders... Looks like a nice rida ya had!

Haven't hugged her lately (there are cameras everywhere!) , but do get the bugs off of her right after getting home.

128? I'd heard that the purple year wouldn't go that fast. And yes, if it doesn't rain pretty soon, we'll be asking Owosso to mail us snow melt.

Hug? Clean? I only do that to HYCLE.

Thanks for the glimpse of your ride. :D
Hey I let off, because the yellow sign was getting BIGGER. I think with the a better running start and some aero adjustments 150 np :assassin:

I was just kidding about "huggin" my bike, I'm not that weird

But I felt like it

I give the tank a little pat and say "That'll do, Pig!"

Me? I leave the bug guts on the bike as a warning to other bugs of what will happen if they get in my way...

Great pics! Only a couple more months, and I'll be able to ride my black beauty. :cold: :cray:

As good a reason as I've ever heard.

40 days until spring up here - which means I might be able to get my bike out for the first ride of the year in about 60 days.Nice report and great pics, mucho thanks!

No hug, but I clean the murdered bugs off. Then again, I guess I'm huggin her the whole time I'm ridin :yahoo:
