Fenda Extenda Rubbing

So when I mounted my fenda extenda I didnt center it up perfect but it did fine..... until I mounted my new tire today now it scrubs and makes an awful noise. I dont know if I should fight the 3m tape and glue to remove it or let it wear itself down a bit. I have a 200-300 mile ride friday.

I'd suggest cutting it away so it doesn't rub before riding it again. It could so easily grab, mangle, destroy your fender and/or you radiator. Having stopped the rubbing, then try to remove the glue/tape so as to fit a new one.

I've fitted them to my three FJRs, each time I've made sure exactly how it's positioned before getting glue anywhere near it, all have been clear of the tyre.

I used two parts marine epoxy, which gives you time to move it some as needed before it hardens.

I'd pull it off and re-mount again.

I've found the Pyramid extenders don't fit the fender very well. If the top is flush to the fender, the angle puts the bottom very close to the tire.

Did you replace the tire with the proper size? Hard to believe you had finger clearance with Bridgestone and now it touches at the tip with same size Road Smart 2.

That's the issue. Loosen the extender, remount to change the angle and all should be well. To finish, add a bead of silicone to seal the top gap.

Sorry, that was supposed to be fine, not fingers. haha and yes its a 120 70. I took it off today. It was fairly easy with a flat screwdrivier. I will remount it when i get back from my trip tomorrow.

I used an adhesive called Automotive Goop to install my fenda extenda.

It has a fairly slow setup time to allow for repositioning.

I also used four soft-tipped spring clamps to ensure good contact and tight fit: Two on each side near the upper portion of the fenda extenda, and two more where it lines up with the lower part of the fender.

After setting up overnight, the thing was secure, and ready for the fender to be re-installed.

My experience on my 08 and my 15....

Used the Pyramid extender on the 08. Used marine epoxy to attach the extender and never had an issue.

Also used marine epoxy to attach. Found in both cases that to properly attach my extenders, the front fender needed to be removed so I could get clamps on the extender to hold it in place as the adhesive cured. I guess you can install them with the fender on, but it's so easy to get the fender off and do it right, it's a no-brainer.

However in both cases, there was not a bunch of room between the bottom of the extender and the surface of the tire. But there doesn't need to be much room, it just needs to clear. I would trim mine if it was glued in place and still rubbing the tire. Not safe to ride otherwise.

Me too on CF extender. Attached using E6000 adhesive and ran a bead of silicone adhesive on the underside seam to prevent moisture and crud from getting between the fender and extender. Been there for two years and no prob-lemo!!
