IMHO I wouldn't put that Fenda Extenda on mine again because of my experience with my '08. A couple of months after installing it with only a couple hundred miles on the bike, I discovered some cracks in the plastic on both rear mounting holes in the fender. Fortunately the bike was well within warranty and was replaced, but the dealer said that it could have been due to the extra weight/vibrations from the extender. They probably could have denied the warranty claim since the fender was modified.

It's possible that using the bolt kit provided with the FendaExtenda isn't the best installation method on plastic fenders, as any increased stress would be concentrated at the mounting points. I used the glue method on mine, and anticipate no issues, as the added weight is well distributed over a larger area.

If I ever decided to remove the thing, I suppose I'd have to cut it off...

I have extenders fitted front & rear to mine for almost four years. No signs of any cracking anywhere.........................

Glued mine too but still cracked around mounting holes. Something other than the extender could have been the root cause and probably would have cracked in any case.

Fitted one to each of my '06 and my '10. On the '06 I originally used the supplied self-tappers. Didn't last long, found one had pulled out. Replaced them with bolts and Nyloc nuts, using silicon sealant to stop the mud that crept through the gap. Held well until I sold the bike.

On my '10 I used some Bostik soft plastics cement but no screws, in spite of someone here who posted their glued-on extanda coming off and damaging the radiator (IIRC). I did take care preparing the mudguard (as we civilised people call it

)by using sandpaper to get through all the paint on its inside surface and leave pure roughened plastic for the glue.

It's been on for nearly three years, I occasionally give it a tug, I've not pulled it off yet.

I used industrial silicone to glue extenders on my 04 and my 08. Never had a problem. They aren't going anywhere with that stuff.

I put one on both my 04 FJR and current FZ6: https://www.fz6-forum.com/forum/fz6-mods/47179-fenda-extenda.html

I did NOT use any bolts or drill anything. I found using regular ABS glue, JUST on the EXTENDER works fine. When I did the FJR, I glued both the fender and extender and got very slight warpage in the fender paint (too much heat, etc). Lots of small clamps and another set of hands help.

I'm curious for those that have the extender....is it an alternative to getting a radiator guard or in addition too or.....I have worried about throwing some debris into the radiator.

It simple reduces the amount of mud, gravel and stones thrown up, it doesn't eliminate it completely. If you are worried about your radiator, put a guard on as well. The GenIIs do have a rudimentary plastic guard.
