Fender extension - 3D print

After my last longer trip in the rain I realized that the black paint is very sensitive for the dust (Ultimate edition is my first black bike):





I decided to improve a bit performance of the fenders. For the front one, decision was easy, I installed standard Fender extender, but was struggling what to do for the rear.
I did not find anything suitable available here in Europe, therefore I did a little 3D print project.

I scanned the OEM rear end and I designed the 3d part to fit from the back side:





The printed result is here (ABS):



Installed on the bike:





I am happy with the result, from design point of view. Was on the weekend trip in Lower Austria, but weather was perfect so I did not have a chance to test the functionality in the rain yet...

Looks good. There are a couple of commercially available options for those without the design skills and/or 3D printing equipment.

Looks good. My local public library has 3D printers. They will print out bike parts for small change, or even teach you how to do that yourself in their shop-classes.
Care to share the .STL file for your rear fender extender?

sorry, but i don't see the difference . do you have a photo before and after? i think mine is just the same as yours, but it is raining here, and to late to get out and take a picture, i ll take one tomorrow

The first one (with dirty top box) is “before”. My intention was not to make it too large and destroy the look.

lol you got me out in de rain again in the dark to take a picture of mine. you are correct, i didn't saw the difference with the "dirt" one, mine is mostly dirty, 2 hours a day riding, and here we have plenty of rain, even the pope saw that this evening. i have the normal short and small one ( talking about the fender )
