Few Pics from my trip to New England

Just a few pics I thought I'd share from my recent trip up to Boston and NH for my Cousin's Wedding.

First off, seafood in New England is so damn good. Gawd I miss it....

Here's how they do it.

Started out with fresh steamed clams and muscles. They have em live in a bag, grab bag, drop into the hot tub.

Out they come, with some drawn butter and a side of garlic salt.... oh so tasty!

Pick your lobster, pet him for a minute, and tell him he's a good boy. Then hand him over to Fred behind the counter.

After giving him a nice relaxing bath in the hot tub, he massages him to loosen him up.

Just shooting the strip, and noticed this one! Mmmmmm.... Sausage peppers and onions....

Missed the shot but drove by a huge strip club in a historic building named 10's. Grandma says, "Hmmm... that's a nice church."

"Well Grandma, that's not exactly a church, but some would say they have had a religious experience there...."

The wife, and I are spending a week up there during the 4th. Never been to that area, but always wanted to see it, so I bought Nascar tickets to the Louden NH race, and plan to tour the area after. Flying in/out of Boston, and renting a car. If there are any must see, do's, or eats, I'll take any info you can divulge.

Well, I'm not really sure on other things to do, but I can reccomend two damn good restaurants.

The pics are from Markey's, it's about an hour or so from Loudon. clicky. The strip was at Hampton beach. It was o.k. A nice walk by the beach, but nothing special. Someone who is familiar may be able to recommend a nicer beach to visit.

Also, you should try Bertucci's. They have lot's of locations. clicky

I'd encourage you to take a GPS, Driving in and out of Boston is a pain in the arse. Good thing is, your going North, so you miss most of Boston's insane streets!

Oh yeah! The Zumo is coming with! Have a buddy who married a girl from Boston, and said the traffic, and roads are a mess there. :blink:

Dang, I do miss getting lobsters off the pier in Kittery, ME and seeing the clams made me think of Bertha's Mussels. I just may have to go back to New England sometime in the near future. Can't beat dipping things in melted butter.

Hey Keith, were these shot from 6/1? we were there! we took a ride up to see my sis in Kittery Point then came back down to Marky's for lunch on the way home (around 2pm) my 05 FJR out front. We ate inside and watched all the Harly folk across the street at Brown's. Too bad we missed you, Hope you had a good visit. This weekend in the 90's The she shells will be in full bloom!

Mrs. BadCat and I took a trip last month to New England. I was able to devour 7 lobsters in 9 days along with various other yummy things from the ocean. I really liked Legal Seafoods which has several locations in New England. We really tried to hit the smaller seafood restaraunts most had outstanding lobster rolls. One place that I will never forget and will return to is Makris Lobster House in Concord, NH. It's a family place that has lobsters from 1 1/4lb up to above 8 lbs. I had a 2 pounder that was incredible. A lady at the table next to us had a 8 1/2 lb lobster. We were there for 2 hours and she was still working on it when we left. Thats a lot of lobster!

Another favorite mentioned here is Makris in north Concord NH area, just south of Loudon track. Pretty excellent seafood for an inland location.

I'll be thinking of you June 14th. We do a "Maine Lobster Run" from Vermont that day. Tons of fun.

I always wondered about Browns, that's the one right across the street, right?

We go to Markeys every time we are up there. I think we'll try browns next time.

Thanks for the memories. I spent part (or all) of every summer for thirty years in Hampton. Those shots are of the main beach, where I had me first job as a 15-year-old at the "Casino" Penny Arcade. $1.48 an hour and the honor of working 6 days a week. There was this German girl that summer.... I digress. Mostly I stayed at North beach (lived there for a year in my 20's), and fished up old rte.1 in Rye......... great great memories. Thanks!

Oh, and garlic on seafood must be new up there......... used to know a lobsterman who gave them away at $3 each when we were kids.

Checked a few other airports, but Logan was by far the chapest for us. Checked prices last week, and tickets have just about doubled! We got 'em for $280/each last Feb.

Anyway, we'll get to see a bit of Boston. We are spending our last 2 days there, and plan to park the rental, and take a taxi to the sites.
