I am getting new tires, and doing some fluid and spline lubing.

Just to be clear the amount to put in the final drive is:

0.21 quart [uS, liquid] = 6.719 999 999 9 ounce [uS, liquid]

Is that correct?

Who knows, or cares?

Yes, there is an 'amount' given to fill but that is just superfluous information.

The smart money is on the 'just fill it to the top of the fill hole'.

My bill is in the mail.

Well there you have it. You have 140k on your bike right? and you have done it like this?

GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME! Thanks G.

Yup, filler up until it starts to overflow a little, and you are good. Between my two bikes that have had the same final drive set up, I have done it this way for about 65K miles and never had a single problem.

Do you fill up on the side stand or center stand?

I've always done it on the center stand. I can't remember what the manual says.

Yes on the center stand. But if your left handed you must be on the right side and pour with the right hand. And if right handed stand with more weight on the left foot and pour it lefty!

:p .

after reading the posts in this thread can you really look for sanity in this forum???
The old Marx Brothers gag....

When signing-up for a new gig:

Promoter, "All I need is your signiture, here."

Marx Bros., "What is that?"

Promoter, "It's a 'sanity clause'."

Marx Bros., "You can't fool us -- we know there's no 'sanity clause'"

Be sure to compensate for fluid expansion from the heat otherwise you'll be cleaning up. I use a measuring cup from the kitchen cupboard. (Don't tell wifey.)
