Well I finally hit 100,000 miles on my 2003 FJR! No major problems. The usual suspects...TPS, center stand and regular maintenance. And I thought Scooter would get there first! Ron
No wonder you only have 24 posts. You are out riding all the time. Congradulations Ron! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Good to see , but you may have a challenger " stromette " from the Vstrom board put 58,000 MILES up in one year on her DL1000 . Now she has a NEW FJR she can put more miles up faster in it's first year .

Congrats-pretty amazing-I am curious as to what type of oil and oil filter and change schedule did you use -Thanks
I used only Castrol GTX 20w50 but after all the positive things I heard about Rotella 15w40 I started using that in the cooler weather. I still use Castrol when it’s above 95° F.

As far as filters go I use mostly Yamie but I have used Pure One from Purolator.

I do change oil & filter every 3,000 miles.

Ron.

Ron did you use regular Rotella or syn? The reason I ask is I have a lot of equipment both gas and diesel (farm-industrial-automotive-house hold-and personal use. I am in the process of using one oil for all. The diesel equipment must use diesel oil and I am in the process of switching everything else over to the regular Rotella 15-40. sure will make things easier to keep one oil as we use bulk storage oil supply. Thanks for your reply-David

If he used 15W-40 then he used the conventional Rotella. Synthetic Rotella is 5W-40.

Congrats on the 100K Toolman, just remember it's the journey not the destination. Hell, you know that probably better than most. Enjoy another safe ride, one day at a time.

Skooter-Thanks-I was aware of the difference-I have to double check everything (make sure we were talking about the same oil)-The bike costs much less than some of the other equipment but I seem to worry about it more

Congrats & many more safe & enjoyable miles!

Any ticking?? :yahoo:
No I guess I've been lucky! I did have to replace the Cam Chain Tensioner. Not to hard too do or too exspensive.
Was that done during the TPS or some other service or did it fail?
I do all the work on the bike myself. The TPS went bad two years ago before any recall. The cam chain got nosey at about 65, 0000 miles so I replaced it. I have heard other people have had to replace there’s also. I bought the bike with 2,600 miles and the 600 mile service had already been done. That’s the only time the bike has been in the shop.

As for the oil I have only used Dino.

Ron
