For those interested I have started a thread over on ADV Rider for a trip to Iceland.

I hope to be posting "on the fly" and leave for the airport later today.

Here is the link to the ride report:

Fire & Ice - A Motorcycle Trip Around Iceland

If you are just interested in checking my progress I will be Spotting here:

Fire & Ice Spot tracking

I am going to follow this for sure. Cannot wait for the first pictures. Should be a fantastic trip, thanks ahead of time for sharing.

Sorry, I don't speak Icelandic.... No really, that's what it says!!!

Now that you have learned that try on the pronouncation for the volcano that messed everyting up.

Just checkin in. I've been busy riding and posting over on the ADV forum. I will check back in tonigt when I have more tiime.

Later...

I just caught up on your ride report. Great photos! Sorry about the minor fall and river crossing fiascoes, but it is an adventure ride after all. I had the impression you were in a tour group, but you seem to be on a self-directed tour. Keep going. I'm living vicariously through you.

One of my favorite quotes: "Two ways to get there... do the Evil Knivel or go ALL the way around. To quote RadioHowie on the FJR Forum, "I may be dumb but I'm not stupid". I went around."

Calling a sheep "a walking sweater" was priceless.

changed stuff up....

I'd asked him to ad the link to ADV in updates, but I reckon we're all smart enough to git there....

Carry on....

Just checking in. Well guys it was truly an amazing two weeks. I turned the bike in yesterday and am working on the last two days of the ride report (video uploading to YouTube as we speak).

It's raining in Reykjavik right now but if the weather clears I am hoping to take a heli-tour of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano tomorrow.

Hope to see some of you soon at the WCR.

Bill Fitz

What a great trip - keep those beautiful pictures coming! Now that our big ride is done, we'll have time to keep up with your ride report

Outstanding report, thanks for the tour of Iceland! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Would it be worth renting a "street bike" for a ride around there or are there some sections of the country that are simply all dirt roads? Is it even possible?
