Had a great first ride with the wife. We only knocked helmets a couple of times but it was wide smiles the entire trip. Tried to keep it simple so a ride along the Colonial parkway in Williamsburg VA. was in order. This part of town is practically our backyard so we neglected to take any pictures. Once we got warmed up we decided to take the Jamestown ferry across to Surry. This area is loaded with American History but it's easy to take it for granted.
Jamestown in the background:
Once on the other side of the James River we just meandered through the country taking route 6somethingorother to route 6idontremember back down to 6itdoesntreallymatter. The countryside was beautiful but these pictures dont do it any justice.
Stopped briefly to take this picture of Fu Manchu. He went crazy once I dropped it in first. He bucked and spun and pretty much freaked us out....
Eventually we made it to Smithfield (Bacon Town). This is a pretty cool little town with some old buildings and brightly painted houses. This is a pic of the original Isle of Wight Courthouse circa 1750.
Is this a Chinese knock-off? The emblem reads HM3.
Not sure about this one either..427.
No imitation.
Next stop was Capt Chuck-a-Mucks in Rescue for some eats. Decided to check it out after hearing it was featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Pretty good food and real nice scenery on the Pagan River.
Then back across the James. This bridge is seven miles long so, in the background you can see Northrop Grumman shipyard where the USS Enterprise is docked now.
Great 100 mile day. It took a little getting use to, the bike just didnt want to turn as easily. But this is the kinda day you want for getting your feet wet with the 2up thing. Looking forward to stretching out the miles.
-cheers
