I use my 07 AE for commuting and weekend trips of 400 to 500 miles, I will be taking my first long distance trip in two weeks (long distance to me not to some). I will ride from SoCal to Colorado traveling thru Nevada and Utah, I have added a Corbin seat, luggage rack, two powerlet outlets, throttlemeister, and GPS to my bike, I purchased LD Comfort riding tights, Gerbings heated gloves, pants and jacket liner, waterproof textile jacket and pants, tankbag with a camelback, sleeping bag and the necessary emergency and repair stuff, I have not purchased a tent yet I'm not sure what to get, any additional pointers from the pros would be greatly appreciated, I never thought I would be at a point in my life were I couldn't wait to get on my bike thanks thttps://s647.photobucket.com/albums/uu199/blurryvision07/o the Feejer bug.

I am not an expert on moto-camping but I would venture to say backpacking equipment would be lightweight and compact for stowage on a motorcycle. Sounds like you are equipped well for the moving portion of the trip. When packing think what do I NOT want to get wet and pack it accordingly. Also, layout your clothes and your cash for the trip. Put back half of the clothes and double the cash and you'll do fine.

I'm spoiled and would add a mattress pad and some food to go with that water. My tent is 30 years old so it's rather big two person, which in a way is nice so I can get dressed inside if the weather is bad.

Your going to Colorado at the end of September? Bring a snow shovel just in case. Here are a few pictures of my last time in Colorado on bike.

If you are interested in motocamping, you might try checking out this site https://motocampers.com/ Another good place to look for ideas on gear is ADVRider...

Folks are real helpful and you find all kinds of tips, etc. Like a lot of things, gear selection can be pretty subjective. Like BadCat said, lighter & smaller is better...

It can be fun though, but I would recommend starting slow and maybe going somewhere close to home for the weekend...
