Update: See post #4 for information on date and location
Gerry (Slappy) talked about getting a first responder course together a few months ago. So now we are getting closer to getting this done.
For those who don't know, the first responder course is course geared toward motorcycle riders. "This First Responder Training For Motorcyclists serves to better prepare untrained riders who suddenly find themselves in the role of "lay rescuers" trying to help a riding buddy. The course covers awareness, pre-planning, prevention, risk mitigation, as well as the riders' responses, goals and priorities in a "ride suddenly gone wrong" scenario." (from the Shiny Side Down website).
Jamie Edmonds (from the website) is willing to teach this for us, and we are working on getting the use of a restaurant meeting room in Kearney Mesa for this. The class will run from 9 am to 3 pm. We are thinking the middle of October for now, but this could change depending on answers here.
Jamie would like $500 to teach the class, so ideally this would be spread across all the riders. Gerry has a friend that knows several riders interested in this, so we are going to see how many here are interested also. We would like to see as many as 50 riders attending this event, so that would bring the cost down to $10 per rider. But even with 25 riders the cost is still reasonable.
So let us know who is interested. Also let us know what day in October is best for scheduling this.
