I finaly got enough snow removed and the dirt road graded so it was time for a ride.

First time the bike has seen daylight this year.

Got to Fort Rock to find the camera dead. I bought some generic cheap batterys but the camera said no so there are no pictures of Fort Rock. Next time.

Went back to town after wasting 80 miles and bought good batterys and the camers was happy again so I decided to see how far up Pualina Peak I could get.

Was able to make it to the 10 mile snow park before the raod was closed. It continues another 11 miles but won't be open for a month or more.

If this works I will take some more next time and have spare batterys on board.

Nice pics. We fortunately do not get too much of that white stuff. What were your temps on that ride. By the way, there are no wasted miles when you are on the FJR, just occasional repeats.

I'll have to ask my daughter if she saw some crazy old guy on a motorcycle out riding. She was over your way this weekend to visit my dad in Eagle Crest, and they were talking about heading out towards Ft. Rock on Saturday.

I'm surprised you didn't go pick up that Thompson dam, though.

Haven't signed for the dam tour but I will see where Thompson dam is and check it out.

I make quite a few trips to the sunny side of the mountain during the year and am looking forward to making them much quicker this summer on the FJR!! I have often wondered about the Paulina Peak drive, but never made it up there. May have to add that to my list of rides to make when the weather turns better. Is there a loop around the peak or is it an up and back kinda trip? Great pics by the way, thanks.

It's up and back unless you want to tour the resorts and get some food. It's a great road for breaking in new tires and making sure the pegs will touch the pavement. When you get this way give me a shout. There are lots of good roads on this side.

Good ride report and great pics. :)

It kinda freaks me out that you guys in the snow bound states can't ride until March! I am in a climate where I ride practically every day all year long. I wouldn't know how to act if I couldn't ride for a few months. Hope the weather gets better for ya.

I will take you up on that. I have not had too much of an opportunity to tour around over there, but would love to have some "insider" info. As soon as the passes dry up a bit I will be headed that way....... see you then.

so I decided to see how far up Pualina Peak I could get.
hmmm, not sure where that is ...perhaps out around silver lake? Reminds me I need to get back up in your neck of the woods this season

............in fact Ray, let me know when we can meet for lunch in Fort Klamath -but don't tell anyone, that place is my little secret. Oh, and I'll bring the batteries :)

Paulina is just north and east of LaPine. There are a couple lakes that are great for fishing from what I have heard and couple resorts. Fort Klamath would be good and I already got batteries :bleh:
