Tomorrow I leave Leawood KS for Estes Park CO.
Looking forward to this first trip over 220 miles on the FJR.
I've had my '08 FJR for less than three weeks. Have 700 miles on it and really looking forward to some quality time with the new machine. This will be the test for: do I need a new seat? windshield? risers? cruise?
Basically, I'm still on a stock bike. Bars are back to the closest to the rider position, I have peg extenders for my 34" inseam, I'll take my lambswool seat cover, I have grip puppies adn a throttle rocker, too. Aside from those the ride/ergos will be pretty stock.
Tomorrow is 480 miles from Leawood to Lamar CO. That will get me across KS and into the SE corner of CO. From there I'll head up to Gunnison where I'll overnight and then head on to Estes Park for 4 days of hiking in RMNP. Then I'll do a slight swing through Leadville adn head home taking two days. 2120 miles total, 1240 in the first leg of three days and the rest in two days. Done similar trips on my mean streak. Excited to see how this one feels after three days of saddle time.
I've got both bags packed, a dry bag with foul-weather gear attached to the pillion and a small tank bag on the tail.
Wish me luck. I'll give a report when I return on 9/5 or 9/6.
Sorry this has been pretty rambling but I'm stoked for the trip. wonder if I'll be able to sleep?
