Fitment difference between a Gen 2 and Gen 3

I searched this site for fitment difference between a Gen 2 and Gen 3 but couldn't find what I was looking for. I currently have a 2006 but am looking at upgrading to a 2016. I have a Yamaha trunk case for the 2006 and I'm wondering if it would fit the 2016? i also have an extended windshield that I had the same question on.

It was included in the material you read when you first signed up called the FJR Model Comparison Matrix. It answers at least your windshield question.

Except for wheels, almost everything in front of the tank is different, while almost everything behind the tank is interchangeable. I've never tried, but I'd bet the tanks can be swapped from GenII to GenIII without much fuss. GenIs have a different fitting under the tank, but the tank is essentially the same. Also, the handlebars mount the same way, but the controls and switches are all different.
