My understanding is that the '07's will be Foliage Green for the A model and the AE's will be Lilac. Yamaha wants to appeal to a younger, more hip customer. All bikes will have a slightly revised engine of 1500cc to compete with kawasaki's GTR1400.
We're all ears Dan23 :clapping: ... What's your source for this exciting stuff .. I'm holding myself off an '06 1300A, and would be defintely worth the wait if we see an '07 w/ more muscles (1500cc) ! :p
Just what we need...a bigger heavier SPORTtouring bike :glare: I think the motor is just fine. They would do well to just upgrade suspension out-of-the-box and look at ways to make it LIGHTER... not heavier.

If I recall, the GL1800 wingabago started out as a 1000. Getting a bigger engine didn't make it "sportier", just a tourer with bigger grunt.

Lets hope this FJR does NOT morph into the BIGGER, HEAVIER motorcycle...there's already plenty of them around...

Tip two - take advantage of the TOURING part of the design and ride it back from Cullman, AL (D&H Cycles). You'll be glad you did.
Very true! :clapping: AL to NJ is over 941 miles - so the bike will be broken-in when I reach! 15+ hours ride.

+1 to that. I rode mine home 500 miles from up North to get the deal I wanted...

Can't say enough about D&H. Nice folks to deal with and the ride home to Rhode Island (1715 miles) allowed my Bernice (FJR) and I to get better aquantied. Did my 600 mile oil change at a friendly Wal-Mart service center in Hillsville VA. I may even do it again next year... ;)

And ladies and gentelmen .. we're off and running. Dan23 get the award as the first 07 "waiter baiter " !! :clapping: It only get worse from here on out ! :D

AND I HEARD THEY ARE DETUNING THE 07'S! B)

And the 07 games are off and runing.....

It will be interesting to see what the new colors will be and if there are any upgrades - Yamaha doesn't always make changes each year especially if they made some significant ones the prior year. Don't forget about Yamahasportscenter in Texarkana also - his prices last year were among the best and you can't beat their service and his help with delivery info on the forum last year as well.

I am thinking of putting a deposit on a 07 PDP when it starts sometime next month ... I wonder what color(s) will be available and what's new w/ 07A  (I have given up trying to trade-in my V-MAX for a FJR 06A - dealers are offering essentially wholesale for V-MAX. Bad time to sell at end of season! I will have to sell it direct some how on ebay, craigslist ... )
Which dealer is known to sell most off of MSRP. (We don't yet know the MSRP for 07A) I mean the lowest OTD. Some have mentioned Cullman, AL shop for best deal. Since the dealer is not putting out any upfront money for a PDP, I am assuming a OTD price can be pre-negotiated.

If the bike is ordered through a dealer outside of NJ (for example, for lowest OTD price), can the bike be arranged to be delivered directly to NJ in the crate? Some dealer-to-dealer arrangement would have to be made. I will of course check for prices from a NJ dealer first.

Please share your experience.
First I would attempt to work a deal with your local dealer first. I bought my 06 from the local dealer for a little more than discounted out of state dealers would give it to me for. In return they have been fantastic in taking care of me on the few issues I have had.

If you have to get one from out of state: I doubt any dealer would ship it to you in the crate. The best way I have found to get one shipped is to call a nation wide moving company and have them add it to a load coming your way. You can usually get a pretty good deal, and they ship it padded van so there is no crating and uncrating.

North American Warhorse in PA is closer to you, and you can negotiate the same price as D&H with them. Before trying them I would read their dealer review first, at least two members of this forum were underwhelmed with their performance. I am unhappy enough with them that I wasn't going to mention them in this post, but I decided that it is your choice to deal with them or not.

Ah, yes, the waiter baiting. I remember it from the winter of 04. Makes me quite pleased to have found an 06 AE in Hobbs NM last week (for $1300 under MSRP OTD :yahoo: ) the same day I sold my 05 FJR ABS.

I went back and looked at my Bill of Sale. Bought my '06 on April 22 off the showroom floor (no PDP) from my local dealer. $12,781 OTD.

Just turned over 10,500 miles yesterday :)

I think you've got the idea, wait and see if you really like it, then buy it from a dealer. It'd be nice to buy from D&H in advance, but I planned on doing that this year. But when I went and saw it in Dec at the bike show in DC, I decided I didn't like the color - no offense anyone. Luckily, I found someone to take over my PDP but I lost a 100 bones in the deal.

Either way, you can always wait from some schmoe to buy the '07 via PDP, farkle the living daylights out of it, then turn around and sell it 6 months later with about 2,000 miles on it. I'll be waiting for that guy to get me the bike I want, with a few grand in little extras, and I'll buy it from him for a grand less than MSRP. Come on, you know you're out there... <_<

As for this '07 talk, until I see something in print it's all speculation. And I agree that it's unlikely Yamaha will make dramatic changes after making so many this year. Most manufacturers will run a bike for 2 or 3 years, then make a change. Look back at Yammy's past with the FJR - now follow me on this people:

'03 - '04 - Silver to uh, silvery-like in appearance

'05 - '06 - Blue to uh, blue

'07 - '08 - Red to uh, red?????

Think about it............You want to appeal to a larger audience?

Has it been established that Yamaha will not offer a second run of the 06's as they did in 05?

It's confirmed. They will not. :D Reliable Sources
Hi, does anyone have any idea at all what would be available in Australia about mid next year? Or if not, would you please be able to point me to an Aust based group...? Any URL's with more info? I'll be buying about then, and would prefer to wait for the new model...

Thanks, Will

I had a similar experience. there was an A in Greely Colo. he wanted 13,500 for it. I passed and somebody else gave him the money.

I talked to my dealer about 07 PDP. He says 07 announcement will be in 3rd week of Sept. Pricing, color and change details. One would think deposits can be put toward end of Sept.

btw. Another NJ dealer has a 06A that I negotiated at 12,700 OTD WITH 4 year YES. YES goes for 389, so the bike should be compared at 12,300 OTD.

I will decide in the next few weeks ... decisions, decisions!
