Hppants apparently has never been to MN. There are no mountains in the Land of Lakes. I spent five years in MN in the early 60's. I believe it was the winter of1964 we had 18 straight days it never got above -20F. Hopefully Tanker will be able to get the Red Rocket out of the garage and hit the road before the Mayflies hatch!!
Well done - the dunce cap fits today, I'll wear it.

I have been to MN... once about 20 years ago. Had a week's worth of business in Minneapolis - in February. It was miserable - I think the week's high temperature was about 3. My only remotely vivid memory of that trip was sitting in the airport terminal, watching these poor *******s de-icing the wings in an exercise of futility as the blizzard falls horizontally. I distinctly remember thinking....

"If this fat ass ever gets out of this place, I'm NEVER coming back."

Hold the flames. I'm sure it's much nicer in June. But there's only 1 first impression.
If you don't enjoy and participate in winter activities, then I see no reason to live here either, except the summers are fantastic.

But since I was born and raised in this great state and enjoy snowmobiling, hockey, downhill and cross country skiing, it's tough to beat. I will however have to say that this winter has been pretty brutal on everyone. Our roads are really beat up right now.

One more sled trip this weekend. I can't wait to get the bike out, hopefully in the first part of April.

I've been to "land o' lakes" in the summer and I remember all the mosquitoes!

As I watched the Islanders help the Wild warm up for three periods last night our local commentators talked in awe about the high school hockey tournament you folks run there. Couldn't say enough nice things about it.

Nah, it's pretty accurate. June has it's own set of problems.

Summers here are too flat, buggy and humid. On the other hand, the cost of living is low, our children are safe (at least in smaller towns), I live two blocks from a shooting range, there aren't many homeless people, and we FINALLY have an awesome beer scene!

I still miss Oregon though.

They remember you too. Come back and feed them!

hm, no, this is from Aasland, not Ogre: Heh yeah, where some people have swimming pools, here we have neighbors with hockey rinks in their back yards. Fences, bleachers, lights, logo's.

It is the "State of Hockey" and they are right, the High School Hockey Tournament is fantastic to watch.

That was a good romp of the Islanders last night. 6-0 ouch!!

Where is that picture from? It is very nice. Oh, the painting did capture the scenery well too!
I think maybe you missed the point Allen, that isn't a painting. It's a metal and stained glass piece, and a very cool one. Of course it would be even better if it looked like this:

Makes a lot more sense really since pool season is July and August and the winter is about 6 months.

"Ouch" is right. Got a feeling they've given up for the year. Enjoyed seeing how many fans were rooting for Moulson to get the hat trick though.

Now back to naked motorcycle riders in man-caves.

Amen Brother! It is nice to have the shooting ranges close by, good schools and the beer scene is has stepped up a bunch.

But don't forget in the summer we get to spend time on the water, dirt and the roads. Add a few road trips in just about any direction gets us into some good roads in about 10 hours, not including SW Wisconsin.

Maybe it is because of our winters that northerners really enjoy being outside and soaking up what summer has to offer.

This snow has got to melt soon.... ugh!!!!
