Thanks Bluesman. Sounds as though he's going to be OK. Do you know which hospital they took him to? If he's at Long Beach Memorial and you can find out a room #. drop me a PM. I spend 40hrs a week there and surely could spare a few minutes to pass along the forum's good wishes, in person.

Jill - I understand he is in a LB hospital, not sure of other details. I'll check.

UPDATE:

I spoke with my friend and he's doing as well as could be expected for breaking his femur. He needs to get into some therapy for his leg soon. He has some pain and hopes to start working from home soon then going back to work not too long after that.

How it all happened:

Turns out while he was looking to exit the car pool lane, another car was also exiting and tagged his left side bag with the cages right front fender. This made him lose control and he rear ended the car in front of him, flying over the handle bars and breaking his right femur. He goes back to the doctor on Friday to see how well the healing has started, and hopefully get into some Physical Therapy soon.

He is also wanting to replace his 2006 FJR with another one. I told him there were a few on the forum for sale.

Thanks for the update. I went to check on him in the hospital but he had already been discharged home (which was great news).

Please relay good wishes for healing, and if he needs a good PT in Orange County I can recommend one.

I want the cager that tagged him to buy him any bike he wants. Maybe he'd like to have one of those 2011 FJR 1400 thats been rumored.

Tell him to do all the PT. I knew a guy in the Army that broke his femur on a jump and didn't do any of it. He will limp for the rest of his life. On the plus side, he was dangerous so he won't be endangering anyone else. Just sayin'.

Do tell him to do all the PT they order. I'm a lawyer, but not a PI lawyer, but I still know that at the end of the day the insurance company uses the amount of actual medical expenses you incur as a multiplier to decide what they will pay. It's a f*cked up system for sure, but somebody tough that wants to get through it with less meds, dr. visits, PT will get screwed in the end as the ins. adjuster will use that against them in the final calculation....
