I got to 46 and instead of turning right, I headed across the road to see what the sign on the other side of the road said

I had a long ride ahead of me so I didn't want to take the diversion, but I decided that the next time I was down here I would plan on taking that 14 miles of rough road.
Santa Rosa Creek Rd. starts at the 46 where Old Creek Rd. ends, and continues into Cambria. Lots of great views and twisties (including a couple of cool horseshoes), but the roadway is in pretty bad shape lately.

Sounds like a road for dual sports and wee stroms.

Guess where I'm going? He-he!

Only the start TWN... I've found some roads that I refuse to take the FJR over.. and my DS isn't ready yet.. and i won't tell you where they are until my bike is ready!

Damn John -- I didn't get the messages from other board members until this morning (Monday) that you were stuck in Auburn. Woulda been easy to have let you keep the bike in my garage if I'd been in e-mail or telephone contact. (I was with GF all weekend and our cell phones were turned off, sitting on my dresser). Glad you're home ok and got your bike temporarily housed over here, though.
This morning, I heard that you got mixed up with a bunch of women coming back from a cruise, caught a ride with them and had to hole up with them in a motel?!? This story has a silver lining???
LOL ...ya people on here were real quick on spreading the word that the bike needed a place to hide from the storm for a while. Thanks for the offer. Turns out Patrick was real close and easy (don't know patrick's name on the forum here). Super nice guy.Ya, lucky that my GF was coming through Auburn on her way back to Reno. Not sure the pack of girls appreciated me cramping their space and style LOL ..but the timing couldn't have been better for me. We were also lucky that we hit the window of opportunity just right as 80 was shut down again after we got across. Pretty ugly.

Thanks.

Glad you got sorted OK. I called & left a message at the Hotel, not sure if it got to you though.

BTW...TWN is right about those Avon Storms. By far the best tire I've had on the FJR. Michellin and Bridgestone cannot compare. That must be why I was smiling so big when TWN talking about them. I wouldn't wax them though...might get slippery! ;)

Patrick is rsvllfjr. He had fun with exskibum and I on the last leg of the New Years ride. :yahoo:

:clapping: :clapping: Good on ya, Patrick. :yess: :eek:k:

OK, thanks Mike: So, Patrick is 'rsvlfjr". Now I know. ...ya he's a real nice fellow and is sure doing me a huge favor. He's one of those soft-spoken fellows who stays under the radar and real polite/helpful.

Total opposite of abnoxious pricks like me and some of you.

.....and can you believe that he's washing my bike and even an oil change?! Wow, isn't he something!

PS: the surprise that I took to Morro Bay for OVfjr ...well he already had it (I should have known) but rsvlfjr is now the recipient of it. Maybe my suspension will be dialed in as well when I pick up my clean and fresh oil bike. :)

While I'm rambling: I'll likely pick up the bike this weekend (assuming rsvlfjr is finished checking the valves and synching the throttle bodies)

.......any of you valley girls (exskibum? OV? Rsvl? ...etc) want to put on some spirited miles??? let me know, I'll be in your crib ready to be abused ....

I'm either booked helping GF out at her place both days (she's in Alta and all but snowed in right now) or squeezing in a day at Sugar Bowl with her on Sunday. We need to do this a little later when we don't have so much good new snow to ski on.

BTW, Patrick is a very good rider and a blast to ride with. Saturday looks like the best riding day. Sorry I can't make it.

Aww, shucks. And now for the Mr. Hyde side - anybody wanna buy a (still) heavily road-grimed '04? Cheap! No pink slip available, but possible parts bike? Must come and get before I-80 thaws. Bwah hah ha ha ha! (Don't respond, I'm KIDDING).

RenoJohn,

If the weather cooperates, I'll probably be up for some play-time. Of course, if the weather forces you to leave your baby a little longer, maybe the wife will get USED to seeing two bikes in the garage - Then, if I time it right, I can sneak another toy in when yours goes back over the hill... Even if there's no hope of her falling for it, your bike is not at all in the way, so you're welcome to leave her until the weather gods change their minds about the need for so much fluffy water.

Not sure I swing that way...what are you talking about?

Now if it is MOTORCYCLE riding you want to do, I can do that on Sunday.

LOL, were those my bike parts I saw on EBay? Geeze, and to think I was buying them up.
Still planning to come down this weekend .....that would be cool if you're up for some "play time". we won't be able to go high ..still too much snow but I'd love to get some solid riding in. OV says he may be able to do sunday, exskibum is out. Is there a better day for you? I may come Saturday and put an overnight ride together and head home sunday. Just thinking out loud at this point, tomorrow I'll firm up and maybe put some routes together.

Thanks again ...renojohn

RenoJohn,

I'm a bit under the weather, dang it. Feels like the world has been turning about half a second faster than my reality can adjust to for the last 2-3 days - Not conducive to surviving a spirited ride. I'll probably rain check you on the ride this weekend (you are of course welcome to get your bike whenever convenient) and turn up on your doorstep once the weather turns nicer, to go for some good twisty mountain runs.

Well, two weeks later .............

LOL, fianlly got the bike over the hill. Again 10X thanks to Patrick for letting my dirty bike loiter in his garage. Much appreciated.

Picked it up yesterday and then molested some goat-trail foothill roads. This shot is off of moonshine rd "kinda" between Dobbins and Timbuckto. So many great roads. Home late last night then today hosed the bike off today, hardly recognized it -and then a litte two-up ride near the Lake (tahoe).

Thanks again for the Morro Bay fun and next time I won't be the last one home ..promise LOL

Hey RJ, it was really nice to meet you at Morro Bay. Good to hear you got the skooter back in the home town and to know that the FJR kin is good folk. IMHO, you are one hard core rider. Of course you are still wet behind the ears and don't have nearly enough gray hairs. Like TurboDave for example... ****, he can out ride me too. Never mind

Ditto Dave (oops) Don on meeting you. ...let me know of any upcoming RTE's as I like riding and i like food. Speaking of which ....Las Vegas this weekend (saturday) for dealer sponsored BBQ ..let tme know if you're interested. You're close enough to make a day of it. ...OH, wait, ...leave Wednesday and return Tuesday and get those CBA miles added up LOL ...no reason to ride in one day that you could do it 7days.
Ya, turbodave is a legend ..well according to the rumors up here in Reno anyway, never met him ...but it looks like I may be chasing him north next month.
