I think MNFJR05 is to be commended for breaking ground at suggesting which states are in which region.

Seems too formal to me.
I agree- a bit too formal.

I suggest an alternate approach for consideration:

In the past I was involved with selecting new business locations for an established firm. Part of the approach involved doing a zip code analysis to see exactly where existing customers were coming from. This then allowed a new business location to be located near the majority of them. I suggest looking at the past regional meets (CFO, SFO, EOM, & others) to actually see where the participants came from. We don't need to use zip codes but perhaps states. Once this information is available then the states to be included in any given region should be more obvious and also be more likely to reflect those who might actually attend the event. Just a thought. I guess I like the idea of regions with loose boundries for selection of ride/meeting locations.

One other item of concern that I have is that I feel like the actual references to regions maybe being given too much attention. I mean basically each event is a ride/meet somewhere for whoever attends. It seems to me that the main concern should be not to place them too close together either area wise or time wise so that one diminishes the other.

At any rate those are the first thoughts that come to mind. Other thoughts?

Seems too formal to me.
1) In reality there is overlap in the groups of people who meet. For example, many people from Florida attended EOM this year. Your boundary leaves the southeast out of that region.

2) No reason to request permission from the regional dictator to get together with friends. Just ask people if they want to ride and see who signs up.

If you want to declare regions and leaders for one premier annual regional event, then I can see what you're proposing, as long as you don't intend to keep people from beyond your regional borders from attending or voicing an opinion on the planning.

I agree with Geezer.

Wow, what's next? Membership dues?

I, too, am going to take a little hiatus from the FJRForum in hopes that the ship will right itself.

Signing off...

Holy crap what did I miss... Someone pissed in someone's wheaties?

I don't know or care who sets up a ride, rides, or _the_ ride, organizing them, especially big meets like WFO and EOM is a phenominal pain in the ***.

It's hard enough to get people to do that when you want and need people to do that.

It takes a hell of a lot of work to put together the big meets.

Little one off rides here and there, shouldn't require any oversight on anyone's part. In fact this forum probably shouldn't sanction or bless diddly squat. We're adults here not kindergardners for crying out loud.

Oh man if this was a bar there would be blood all over the floor, a couple of ambulances outside, LEO everywhere, women screaming, shots fired, knives drawn, teeth missing etc...

Sure Minnesota John, give the NFO/CFO all the sh*tty states. :) :)

Atleast give KY, OH & WV to NFO!! :yahoo: :clapping: :clapping:

In my mind, CFO only had about 3 good places to choose from SW WI, Ozarks & the SE OH & WV area. There may be more, I don't know..

BTW, I'm NOT in favor of a region list like ST.net. I'm more in favor of keeping it loose and people not losing their minds on this... I don't think there should EVER be any little fiefdoms or "this area is mine" kinda thing. That is NOT the way that we become helpful to each other.

I agree that the bad feelings have being generated - I know I was ticked off...and maybe everybody (including me) needs to take a chill pill. However, this Forum has been and continues to be very good to me. I'm still proud to be a member, warts and all.

Sturgis anyone? ;)

I thought about this one, I lived 20 minutes from Sturgis for 20 + years and have seen it since 1962.

Plus why just have one regional ride when a lot of folks can't make the date? Seems to me to service more people by having some small gatherings, sanctioned or not would be a plus.

In No. Ca. we have some great organizers for day and weekend rides all over the place. Works for us.

Why can't we all just get along.

I could not agree more.

I know I was ticked off
I hope that I didn't do or say anything to bother anyone.

Ride safe all. Ron

As Civil War buffs can attest: those of us from Missouri can not be trusted to be exclusivly with the north. :glare:

It should be expected that those from the south part of the state will surely identify and unify with those in Arkansas, and therefore try to cede to the south.

Beware-- we can and do swing both ways!! :angry2:

Errr, wait a minute... I don't think that came out like I meant it.

so i don't know what was so wrong about one person trying to organize a ride in arkansas? why was he told he couldn't do a ride in arkansas?
Organzing a ride in Arkansas was not the issue. Yes, it was the catalyst, but it was the subsequent behavior which caused the major problems.

As an objective bystander who had no idea about CFO vs. SFO until late this morning, I am still completely dumbfounded and saddened on how attempts to organize FJR get-togethers (you know, comraderie, common bonds, fellowship - **** like that) turned so ugly.

IMHO, lots of peeps need to take a step back and chill. Nothing will be resolved until cooler heads prevail. Checking egos at the door might be just a wee bit beneficial also.

What's going on around here folks? Cabin fever setting in early? As pointed out previously, one of our oldest and funniest forum members has checked out due to other ridiculous crap from a few days ago.

Would everybody do me a favor and take a few moments to think about why you come here?

And for the rules (which no doubt will be getting longer soon) OHFJRick, they are located at the top of the board. "Forum Guidelines" is their name. Clicky HERE for a direct link to them.

Spearfish Canyon Lodge in June is a great place to ride out of for a few days in the Black Hills...possible location for CFO '07...

Does this now mean we can't organize yearly Northern Ca. rides with a group without stepping on toes, don't go to Yosemite, its my ride in my park.
I pitty the poor soul who tries to stir anything like this up in NorCal. :D

Not sure what the fuss is all about here with regards to locations and dates of rides. Even if there are multiple rides planned very close to one another, people will attend whatever suits them, pretty straight forward stuff really.

Check out the Cali section of ride planning, there's damn near something going on every weekend, but nobody's complaining. The more the rides the better IMO, sure beats reading some of this stuff.

We will call it the AFO, ANY FORUM OWNER.
+1

SHUT UP AND RIDE!!!!!
Again +1

I don't care what it's called, or where it's at, if I can make it, I'm going!
again again +1000000000000000

I am appreciative of the folks (slappy) and others who did EOM. I enjoyed the hell out it. If I had the time and money I would have gone to WFO, CFO, SFO etc. Isn't the whole idea to RIDE and make new friends and re-aquaint with old ones?

BTW I am putting an ALABAMA rider list together and JWILLY since you are in Atlanta, GA your off the list buddy! J/K

You all knock this ******** off. GO for a ******* ride, or something.

This subject will wait for another day. Thread closed.

Any of you try to continue this ********, do it in PM's. Try to keep dragging the **** up in public, and I'll start wielding the machete

The Admin team meets on Monday to discuss some possible changes in the house, thanks to a very few immature asshats on the forum who would like to ruin it for everyone.
