I have been running a prototype for some time now. It installs easily, much easier than the ones for previous gen's. I is much more stable since the support is more towards the middle of the shelf. It does not effect how air flows behind the screen at all. The vertical clearance is reduced as the wind screen is lowered. Since the Gen III does not lower automatically like previous Gen's, it is not as much a issue. You do have to drill a hole in the center plastic panel. This panel is not painted. It can also be replaced without replacing the rest of the fairing if you remove the shelf.

Hope this answers all the questions I have seen.

I'd like to see a picture of the shelf installed on the bike before I buy...I really can use one

anyone got pics?

Ordered Friday; delivered Thursday; well and professionally made; very easy to install; took longer to install the GPS, V1, voltmeter, Spot and wiring than to install the shelf. Thanks Scott, well done.

The Gen III's have a nice clean dash but has virtually no place to run wires in behind it without cutting or going in front of and then underneath the dash. Where are you running yours?
Also are you using a Fuze Bloc or PDM or just going straight to your battery?? I wanted to mount my PDM to the right side of my shelf to have it close to the battery but trying to route the wire bundle coming off of it is kicking my ass.
BTW your setup looks very nice.
The GPS and V1 are run off a Fuze Block under the seat.

The Datel Voltmeter is straight off the battery and the Spot has self contained batteries. I ran the wiring up and out through the winshield support slots. No cutting required, just some carefull routing of the wires across the nacel and judicious use of wire ties to hold things in place and out of harm's way when operating the windshield.

Thanks for the info. I thought about the windshield slot but noticed it comes nearly to the top of the slot when all the way up so I'll see if I can squeeze them in there. Problem is, is I'm dealing with a bundle of 7 wires & not just 1 or 2.

I looked at it carefully and it appears the wires will not be harmed even if the windshield is fully raised. Additionally, I seldom, if ever, raise the shield more than halfway. I run a MRA wind deflector on my screen and about half way raised gives good protection.

Kevin - It looks like you have a bar riser - Heli or Motorrad?. Do you think the Vstrom hand guards would interfere with the shelf with your bar riser and full handlebar lock?

Heli Bar. They touch the shelf slightly before they would hit the windshield. Don't tthink it will be an issue.

Checked again and they do not hit. Stop about 1/2 inch before contact.

Holy **** Batman (AKA Adam ... Oh nevermind). I thought I was a gadget guy! Don't forget to watch the road while playing with all your electronics. Hope you solve your Engine light gremlin with little fanfare.

What kind of fuze block are you using and where did you mount it?

I'm using an Arboreal Systems - Neutrino Black Box. You can see my install here: https://koczarski.com/2016-yamaha-fjr1300es/arboreal-neutrino-distribution-module-v1

Here's a blurry shot of my final dash layout.
