 hi im thinking of getting an fjr due to the fact that my harley runs so hot, when i go to work my body's core temp is so hot it takes all night for me to cool down. how is the heat on the fjr any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I think its quite well managed for a 145 hp machine.

You can make an adjustment to the cowl to channel the flow one way or another. I am keeping mine closed.

I rode a Victory Vision the other day (air cooled 92 hp V-Twin), and it just about roasted my legs. Now I understand why the cruiser guys are so anxious to add Frisco pegs.

Not near as bad as the heat from my HD. Rode the FJR today in 102' and didn't feel any heat.(that is from the engine)

wow you got alot of bikes, thanks for the quick replies guys they are appreciated.

The FJR is much more comfortable (especially in stop-and-go traffic) than the Roadking.

Both are comfy when moving - but getting stuck in traffic riding into NYC on an aircooled bike isn't fun.

As far as how long it takes the engine to cool down completely - I never noticed.....

Heat is not a problem on the Generation 2 FJRs.
Yes it is.

I've not ridden a Gen 1 to compare, but I have ridden other bikes (Honda's, Suzuki's and Kawasaki's) in 100+ temps, and none have been as hot as my 06 FJR.

On a recent trip out west when temps got into the upper 90's, my feet got so hot I couldn't put them squarely on the footpegs - had to balance them on the ends of the pegs (away from the exhaust) or hang them on the passenger pegs.

THey should make a PCIII map which drops the power output so it doesn't make as much heat.

I agree with Aasland, the Gen II is still pretty toasty on the shins. Rode yesterday for about two hours in 93-degrees and could feel the heat through the front of my boots (vents are closed - in cool position - BTW). My last couple of bikes didn't seem that hot (K1200RS, R1150S) and the ones prior to that I can't remember. Wow - the Gen I's must be seriously hot! But it's a SMALL price to pay for such a solid, powerful machine. Not a problem for me. In fact, it will probably be a welcome thing when the temps drop below 70.

I rode mine yesterday at 102 degrees. Yes you can feel the heat on your shins some but its not unbearable. The Gen 1 I rode did have more heat.

My Vstrom was cooler but it was part naked and had less than 1/2 the horsepower.

Heat what heat? I just switched from an 06 ST1300 to a 07 FJR1300 and I don't really feel any heat. It was 100 Saturday and I was comfortable (it was warm but exceptable), now if that would have been the ST1300, I would have been sweating like a pig. Coming from an ST the FJR is down right comfortable temp wise.

For comparison, the FJR runs relatively cool to me. I had a KTM 950 Adventure that always kicked off plenty of heat. I also test road a new Concourse before choosing the FJR. That one puts off some pretty serious heat.
