This engine, I am told, was derived from the FJR 1300 engine.
I think that's going to be a stretch, but it's certainly true that Yamaha four-stroke water cooled engines are all going to have various similarities, but doubt interchangeability on a majority of their parts. Just like the FJR1300 was derived off the Genesis head and influenced by other Yamaha product.

It's also probably true that basic design of cam chain tensioner is probably same across a spectrum of their products.

It's not just Yamaha. I replaced the CCT 3 times on my 2001 Honda CBR 600 F4i in less than 12,000 miles.

My riding bud's '97 Blackbird's CCT crapped the bed twice-Once near Hudson Bay, Canada-that was fun..

Makes me really appreciate my 5th gen VFR all the more.
True...., gear-driven cams -- what a wonderful design. The engines, alone, were worth what Honda was charging for the whole bike!

Too bad riders don't vote with their pocket-books and avoid chain-drive anything....!

As an aside: Kawasaki willingly replaced (for free) faulty cam-chain tensioners on C-10 Concours.

Well, that's real nice. I'm sure Howie would appreciate a similar gesture from Yamaha. Now about that cylinder head . . . .
I should explain..., Kawasaki had several different (up-graded?) C-CTs for the C-10 and would notify the owner to see their dealer and request fitment of the latest up-grade.

There was some discussion (among C.O.G.) if any were any better than any other...?

But, the attempt (and willingness) by Kawasaki was appreciated.

I never had one fail -- did have a poor one (cam-chain noise) and was replaced free by my dealer.

Nevertheless, complete cam-chain/tensioner failure on DOHC/4-valve engines can be catastrophic ('Howied' or 'Ioned' top-end). :( :(
