So what do you think I could get for my R1 with 107,000 miles on it? :detect:

Grady A. Dunham

I think I'll be keeping that one till it won't run anymore B)

I don't consider myself 'pussywhipped' but with 61,000 km on the clock of my '04 I love it more than I did when I first got it. I have it dialed in just the way I like, well except for a few more farkles. The '06 changes to me are cosmetic and it would still need to be tweaked to be as nice as my '04. I have not had even one mechanical hiccup and the longer I ride it, the more confidence it inspires. The mileage I hope to rack up on this bike would have a significant impact or resale, but seeing this bike as a classic comparable to the '65 Mustang, it will always have a spot in my stable regardless of whatever else happens to come along.

The mileage vs value thing is something I'm trying to correlate with the FJR. There comes a point where once you exceed a certain mileage, then it becomes a keeper. Better to just drive it to the ground. For example, when my commuter car turned 75K, I was thinking of selling it while it was still under 100K miles. 100K seems to be the magic number for many who are shopping for an older/used car. I decided to keep it because its replacement cost would be much more than I can afford. BTW, that car now has 223K.

Is it safe to assume that a 40K FJR is viewed as a 100K car on the marketplace? No, I didn't buy the bike for resale purposes. And I'm not going to hold back on my riding regardless of how the mileage affects it value either. I'm just trying to figure out if I 'need to' sell the bike now while it is still marketable, or it will have to be a keeper.

I would think an high milage FJR would be like a high milage Gold Thing. I have no idea how Gold Things hold their value.
They don't, from a gold wing classified site: "I've got an '05 CBC non ABS with 1100 miles $15,600 OBO."

Don't know where most of you guys live but, here in Phoenix bikes of all sorts are a dime a dozen, trading is the only way to go. Don't get me wrong you can sell a bike but, it will take forever and you gotta sell it cheap because there are so many.
