Having not ridden for any substantial amount in many years, I was very eager to get my new 08 FJR on the road after receiving it last week. Last weekend I put 1000 klics on it (600 miles, thats the way we talk up here, eh)and I have to say that it lives up to its reputation. On the handling side, to me, it feels like a much smaller bike. The ergonomics are nearly perfect for me ( 6'2" , I have seat in upper position, bars as per factory) and I could ride non-stop between fill-up with no real soreness.

The most impressive thing was the power. All I can say is if your going to crack the throttle in first gear (or second for that matter) you had better be paying attention because things happen way to fast.

I have sliders ordered for it. At this point the only other farkle I am considering is a taller windshield. In the future I could see myself considering a new seat.

On the service side of it I must concede that changing the oil is the easiest of any bike I have ever seen. I did the final drive also and it was likewise.

I need to sync the throttle bodies. I have a mechanical background and could do it myself if I had correct tools (carbtune).

I don't have to much faith in the dealer where I purchased, they scratched the fairing among other things, and if it was't for this site my saddlebags would have definitely fallen off. I was wondering if anybody has experience with dealers in Edmonton, Alberta.

Once again, I must thank those that contribute to the wealth of information on this site. It has been a tremendous help.

Welcome to the family,

You know from reading the posts how happy we all are with our babies. I'm sure you will have the same experience with yours. Have fun and be safe.

Welcome SRT8! Great choice of bikes...get ready for lots of klics of pure riding pleasure.

Thanks for the report. :clapping: and for the translation to 'merican. :)

Fill out your profile with location and maybe post a picture in this thread of that bad boy (FJR).

Here is the bad boy.

And here is my driveway I actually had to ride in and out of to get to road. I also have 2 klics of gravel before reaching pavement.

It was worth it though.

SRT8, I'm assuming your on an acreage somewhere around Edmonton. If you want to come down to Ponoka, I have a carb stik, bike lift and tools. It's not that hard to do a sync on the carbs and drop in fresh oil.

SRT8, Welocme from SoCal!

Great job getting out even though the raods are slick.

I don't want to see any more excuses about not riding due to snow from the east coast or midwest! SRT8 did it, you can too. I'm sure I'll hear about this.... ;)

Good for you man! The throttlebodies are pretty easy to sync if you have the tools. Do a search on FJR tech, there is an excellant tutorial on how to do this from Warchild. He said it takes less than an hour. Good luck!

Dirk, I've read Warchilds tutorial-more than once-good stuff. I just got to get the right tool. There's nothing like having the right tool for the job.

Thanks, Bearly Flying, for the offer to help me. I may take you up on that offer someday.

Doooooooodee

Git one of them syncy thingies. I ordered mine online and even I can do it........... I am supposed to change the oil too?? Damm, I knew I forgot something

Oh and wecum

Rogdeb,

Sorry about the thread highjack: That screamin' red '03 in your avatar looks like the twin to my '03, except I have had the wheels powder coated to match the engine cases (performed while they were being straightened). I wonder when the factory will let America have a real color? In the meantime, we will enjoy, eh?
