So - I've had my FJR for about 2 months now, grinning ear to ear every time I get the opportunity to ride it. I was cleaning out the garage the other day and decided, what the heck - take the wife's (my old) 950 cruiser around the block.

Holy.... cow....

I feel totally uncomfortable on the 950 now. I had ridden it exclusively for the better part of 3 years prior, and 2 months on an FJR made me almost nervous on this bike. Scraping the floorboards in turns, felt unbalanced off the line, turns just felt more strained and not natural. From what I remember about the test ride of the FJR, I had initial nervousness over the additional power granted by the water cooled 1300, but that faded VERY FAST.

I'm glad I made the switch; just had to keep myself quiet about how much more refined and easy that the FJR truly is to ride. I want the wife to ride it sometime, but she's very unsure about not being able to flat foot it... and I don't necessarily want her to steal the FJR out from under me :)

Yep, the FJR is a finely balanced machine.

I'm always arguing w/ the Bring Mor Wallet crowd who wrongfully compare the FJR to the over priced, fragile, weak sauce,

high maintenance, not in the same league RT.

Wut's real funny is if'n ya look back at an '03 FJR, and an '03 RT, 'n how the FJR is practically the same where the RT's been totally redesigned many times over. Yamaha hit the nail on the head w/ the FJR 'n Bring Mor Whiners is still bash'in their thumb w/ the hammer!

I jump back 'n forth between the FJR 'n FZ6, and though similar, (Both be'in I4s w/ 17x3.5 'n 5.5" wheels) ever time I gotta recalibrate my brain.

Oh 'n tell yer wife; flat foot'in's over rated.
