Passed a Cobalt Blue 2006 or 2012 going toward the Northeast Entrance to Yellowstone on the way to the Bear's Tooth. I was on an 06 with my wife. What a gorgeous day up on the Beartooth Parkway. Unbelievable!

I'm heading over Beartooth (again) Saturday or Sunday. I'll give a smoke update. It's been very smoky west of YNP for a while, but we had a big windstorm and it poured rain briefly a few nights ago, cleared it all out. But, it's starting back up today. Problem is some massive fires that will be burning until Fall/Winter in central ID.

I was through the Beartooth and Chief Joseph on Thursday last week, and there wasn't any smoke or haze. Yellowstone and the Tetons was another story entirely.

Went over Bear's tooth on Saturday the 25th on a blue '06 in time to hit Red Lodge for lunch. What day were you there?

We went through the Tetons on the 24th and 25th and the smoke was slight in the morning and got worse in late afternoon. In Yellowstone the 25th-29th and the weather was perfect, smoke was not an issue and we were on the Beartooth on the 28th and as the photos show, there was no smoke evident.

Small world story. Ran into three riders from a Harley club 15 miles from where I live in South Carolina when stopped at the top of The Beartooth. Pretty crazy, they shipped their bikes to Seattle and were in the middle of a 16 day ride and we crossed paths at the top of the pass!

By the way, the FJR performed flawlessly and was a total joy for exploring the Tetons, Yellowstone, and Beartooth. It was an incredible trip!

These guys were quite interesting on the FJR!

Hope you had a good trip this weekend. It is extremely smokey in this area (Salmon/Central Mountains).. There's an unhealthy air quality alert for Lemhi and Custer counties in East central ID for today, and as you indicated it will probably be chronic until a substantial weather event (snow?) occurs. These fires are huge, it's dry out there, and there's tons of fuel.

Let's hope for some early rain!!

Well, speaking of smoke, a picture is worth a thousand words, so here's one taken at 0800 this morning looking east from my house, toward the Montana border from Salmon ID. Those who have been here know the Bitterroot Range is a beautiful backdrop, but this AM the mountains weren't visible, and the sun was just an orange orb in a dark sky (the orange didn't show up in the photo?).

The mountains around here have actually been rarely visible for the past three weeks. We need some rain!!!
