Sitting for 2 years???

Might want to make SURE you don't have any reddish-colored particulates in the gas.

The FJR tank is mild steel with NO protective coating on the interior.

Here's what 1 year of sitting did to my FJR's tank.....CLICKY

That's iron oxide, aka "rust", that nearly wrecked my entire fuel system, and DID destroy the fuel pump.
Also, you should prepare yourself for seals and gasket leaks. It sometimes happens when one sits up for that long. Not much you can do, but replace them. Good luck.

Unless your planning to do a track day real soon there really isn't much that needs to be done. If the tires appear to be good I would not change two year tires, they will do fine for regular street riding. I recently purchased a brand new 3 year old AE and one of issues I had was over the 3 years that it sat in the crate the clutch plates had dried out and they could not be made to work right until thet were removed and left to soak in oil for a day. After that everything worked just fine after that. Unless it's time, by mileage, for fluid changes I do not believe there is any need to do that. Check the things out that you normally would and go out and ride and enjoy a great bike.
I think I'm gonna agree with BK. Drain the fuel, then change the oil and brake fluid. Maybe...Maybe change the coolant, fire that thing up and ride her. I bet she has no problems at all. There's plenty of people on this forum and others that have bought bikes that sat in dealers for 2+ years and never leaked or had any issues. Unless this bike was stored outside in the snow, I bet you'll be fine.

Well, I went to pick up the 07 today. It had been sitting for 2 years, so I had a new battery and I put it in. The engine was turning over but wouldnt start. It wouldnt even stumble like it either had abolutely no spark or no gas. I have a policy of not buying a bike that doesnt run so I passed on it. It was in a bit rougher condition than I expected as well with corrosion on alot of parts, as it has spent the last couple of years near the ocean. I ended up walking away form it. So, back to bike shopping I go.

Ocean salt air, injection system sitting with gas for 2 years, visually rough, ...

Absolutely sounds like the right call.

Well, I ended up not buying a FJR. I ended up with the 04 R1150RT. Its the other bike I was considering and I was actually leaning toward the RT before buying the FJR. I was going with teh FJR becasue the deal I was going to get on it along with the 4k dollars of farkles already on it made it a too good of a deal to refuse. The riding position, suspension, power capacity and weather protection all seem to be a bit more condusive to my riding. It also is coming to me pretty well farkled with driving lights, aftermarket seat, top case,etc...I pick my new bike up on Tuesday night. Now I am like a kid before christmas.
