Ah Jeez!! I hate it when that happens! But I can certainly see why they wait for her.....it's those big blue eyes!!

Thanks Tom....ya got me good!!

But it's all good cause I'm going to go look at one of the Spyders you sent me a link to....I'm no where near ready to buy but an '09 with 3600± mi. and some nice options for a, yet to be negotiated, $13K? I gotta have a look at it, see if I can clamber aboard, and go for a little ride.
Hopefully you can access the emergency funds and enjoy the Can Am and sell your bikes in the spring when they will really bring more money.

I hear the 3-wheeler is a bunch of fun in the snow. :yahoo:

yes, the can-ams are quite stable especially compared to a traditional trike. I don't follow them, but they were equipped with the Rotax v-twin, same engine used by aprilia for a while. I have one in my Falco and it is very reliable and the right mods brings the power up. Good luck with your decisions.
They should have the Rotax motor pretty perfected by now, they had them in sno-sleds way back in the 60's....and they were reliable then. Aprilla, eh? That's pretty impressive, I never knew that, thanks for the info.

That's just the way it worked out Tom, kinda a interest free loan (the best kind) until the FJR & V Max sell in the spring....if I like the Spyder. With the financial issues 'back-burnered' the only thing of immediate concern is storage....but your comment about 'fun in the snow' gives me an idea! Maybe install the 4-wheeler plow on the Spyder and play all winter :yahoo: ........or not!

Well, I bought it! Took it for a test ride and the little bugger is a ton of fun! Go cart quickness is going to take some getting used to but comfortable and pretty quick too. Think it will work out real fine.

Will be listing my '05 soon if anyone is interested.

Glad you found a good solution to your needs.

The couple of CanAm riders with whom I've spoken seen to like them a lot. They said it was of course a different style, but they quickly adjusted and find them a very adequate solution.

I was chuckling when I read your original post, as it was just a week or two ago I saw one of those 4 wheel deal-e-os out on the highway. Don't think you could run fast enough to get me on that after watching it negotiate a slow speed right-hander, and the run up to highway speed on the Eastbound I-90 on ramp... a little dodgy from behind! He got right back off at the next ramp before I had the chance to see what bike the conversion was mounted on, but the concept seemed flawed to me from my "back seat" vantage point.

Enjoy your CanAm! :yahoo:

I'll send the invoice for my finder's fee.

I can't imagine anything working out better...or faster. May you have many more years of enjoyment from the new toy. I bet the wife will like this a lot. So much for going alone.

Don't leave just cause you're 3-wheelin. It will be great to hear of the adventures and how this works out for you.

Danny thats just outstanding ! I love a great beginning !!! We shall hear more from you, no? Be careful 'till ya get your "sea legs " on that thing but i'm thinking' wheelies in reverse? Keep us posted and good on ya for being so open to change and compromise...its what makes us survivors vs. victims !!!...where theres a wheelie theres a way !

Blessings,

Bobby

In the spring I bought a used farkle from a forum member that was looking at the Spyders as well. It wasn't an easy decision for him to let go of his beloved FJR. My memory is a little foggy, but I think that once he got a chance to ride one, he took the plunge and bought it. He was really happy with it, and if I recall, his wife was as well. I think I remember him saying that he was concerned that it might not have enough power... until he drove it. He said that he was sure that he was going to be really happy with his new Spyder. Wish I could remember his name. Great guy. I would guess he's not on the forum anymore.

For what it's worth.

Thanks a lot guys! I will post up some pics and pass on a story or two about how me & the 'web crawler' are getting along.

I had wanted an FJR for a long time, they are just so classy....and was lucky enough to run across an affordable one this spring. Every minute spent on her was enjoyable....(despite that little cam chain tooth jumping debacle!) I'm so glad I got to own one, if only for a short time. Playing around with the spyder will take most of the sting out of having to sell her....it is what it is.

Thanks again for the support and kind words, I really appreciate them.

Danny

Congrats on the spyder. My step dad just got one. Back injury causes his one leg to go numb to the point he was worried he couldn't get his leg down at stops. Traded his VTX1800 in on a new RSS and never looked back. He is now riding with us again and having a ball. I've ridden a couple of different models, they are cool.

Aw jeez....that happened to me last summer on my nitrous v max, luckily it happened in my driveway but I was thinking then that maybe it's time to re-evaluate the situation. If nothing else, at least get rid of the nitrous set-up....but then the FJR came along, and that was good. But didn't do anything for the joints, so....here we are and I'm stuck with this thing!!

Actually, not stuck at all, I've only had a couple short rides but really like it! It's going to take a week or two to get used to the steering, it's very quick, after that I think it'll be a ball.

And on a real positive note, my wife loves it and wants to go for a ride this weekend! :yahoo:

So, without further ado......here's WEB CRAWLER!!

Hey man...NO parking on the grass! I swear you old guys!

That looks pretty close to the picture of the one I posted. That red is sweet!

I'll send the invoice for my finder's fee.
Bad news Tom....I won't be able to fulfill the terms of out 'finders contract,' after NYS lightened me by a little over a grand for tax & registration fees I'm flat broke!! OK if I catch you payday....oh wait....I'm retired!

I know, we think we can do any damn thing we want!! :yahoo:

Followed one home from work for a while yesterday. Had a pipe on it, man it was loud, at least from behind. Still looks like a cool alternative.

This one has the factory offered Hindle. Got a nice growl with no load and really raps when given the berries! 3" of snow so far and it's coming down like crazy....gotta give some real thought to that plow attachment!

I'm outta here at 5:00 AM (aka O'dark-thirty) tomorrow to go to the Bay Area. I'll be thinking about you and your snow. It will be in the 40s and warming into the 70s. Winter is here.

Glad you got the bike. Put the plow on a Suburban. Works great.

Yeah, got a BOSS f'glass plow on a full size Sierra, does a hell of a job....heater, radio, hot coffee, doggie as my co-pilot....THAT'S the way to plow snow!!

Enjoy that Bay Area weather, I bet it's gorgeous now....in fact, I bet it's gorgeous all the time!
