I had an 06 HD Streetrod. Very cool looking bike, fairly fast (thought it was really fast until I bought the FJR) and rode good. I went through two engines in 9000 miles. HD bought it back full purchase price after a letter to the CEO and Willy Davidson. I believe the water cooled HD's have engine design problems. Look at their forums. FJR forums talk about buzzing in bars at 80 mph and slight shimmy decelerating. V-rod forums talk about oil consumption, gas in the oil, oil filled air boxes and oil leaks. I liked the V-rod but with the miles I ride it would not hold up.

FJR. I bought an 06 FJR two years ago this month. I now have 50,000+ miles on it. It handles much better, is much faster, much much more dependable and very comfortable. I've added a +2 Cee Baily windshield, Gareld (mispelled) backrest/luggage rack, Yami comfort seat and a few other farkles. What a great bike. Did 180 miles each day this week and will do 220 tomorrow. Going to do 400 this Friday. I know I would not have the comfort or dependability with my V-rod to ride like this.

I would like to have an air cooled HD in the garage. I think they look and sound cool. Also, my wife really likes to ride on them. I just can't convince her that a man needs three motorcycles. I have new dirt bike fever right now and I see a new WR450 coming soon.

Buy the FJR. Just know that the only people that will think it is cool is people that know motorcycles. Nobody else matters anyway.

Good luck and be safe.

All that I've read makes me excited about a FJR to replace a truly great bike, the Harely V-Rod.

Bend, OR

Scott,

Harely's suck. Most expeshully the Harely V-rods.

If, on the other hand,

you were talking about some other bike,

like say a Harley Davidson V rod,

then ...

nevermind.

Gents:

You guys did it! I fly to Vegas to p/u an 06 FJR tomorrow night.

Super help, thanks.

Soon, I will be able to post comments when someone asks.

Scott
