Ok We compared the Busa and the R1. What about the FJR and the R1?

I'm sure on the track or in the twistys the R1 would smoke the FJR, But, what about in a flat out Drag race, off the line? top end?

I'm just curious, Since I don't own both (as of yet :D )

I'm just asking In what areas would the R1 be better then the FJR?

Thanks for whatever you feel like contributing :D

I have both bikes. I was riding my R1 Friday, followed by a friend on a '05 FJR. I wicked up the R1 and lost the FJR like a bad habit. Sorry to tell you that, but my R1 weighs 393 pounds dry and came stock with 150HP. The FJR is at least 525 pounds and has 145HP. Simple math.

Lets compare an apple and an orange. Or how about an R1 and a loaf of bread or a can of sardines and a Frisbee maybe a fart and a ..........

Both bikes do very good at what they do, but, they don't do what each other does.

Not sure if that sounds profound or stupid. 1 vote for stupid.

anyway, from the original post...

flat out Drag race? Advantage R1

off the line? Advantage R1

top end? Advantage R1

and more...

0-60? Advantage R1

60-80? Advantage R1

80-100? Advantage R1

(just so it can win something)

Pulling tree stumps out of the front yard? Advantage FJR

I thought the R1 had more like 185hp? I thought it was closer to the Busa?

Maybe at the crank - not at the rear wheel. and I think 185 is pretty generous, even at the crank.

Well, how about 10 hrs in the saddle? Advantage-Mercury Grand Marquis.

However, not as much fun as either bike. Guarantee ya that my ass doesn't hurt as much though. ;)

I love these Post, this is great information and it's fun to!

I don't want anyone to take it to serious, I'm only asking to create conversation and get some insite into the runnings of the R1, I have a FJR I know it can pull a stump out of the Front Yard :D I'm really thinking about getting a R1 as well, so I just thought some friendly conversation about the bikes would be fun!

Thanks ya'll for the laughs and the information!! :D

Make the comparison more interesting and put an R6 against the FJR.

If the R6 driver isn't good with the clutch, you'll beat him every time. If he is good with the clutch, you may not see him until he stops. ;)

:)

One thing that the FJR and R1 have in fairly equal measure is their ability to outshine about most streetbike riders. Prolly 90% or more who buy these for the street will never ride as well as the bike is capable of being ridden, and many of them wouldn't care to push the limits that far on the street anyway.

Actually the FJR and R1 are two different tools to do two different jobs for the two different tools sitting on each. But you can tool around on both. But the question still remains , which tool rules ? :coolio:

:stupid: That's why I own both! 2 very different bikes! Neither can come close to doing what the other was designed for! Try hauling a pillon for 1000 mi. on an R1 or winning a SuperStock race on a FJR (even though it has 300cc more). Ain't going to happen either way! Not even close! lol Just look at both and it should be self explanitory! lol

My R1 is a '98. It was advertised as having 150HP at the crank. The newer ones have more. I spent a day on an '04 R1 and I can tell you that although it has more PEAK HP, my old '98 will kill it in the midrange.

Didn't realize they had changed so much... Cool

I disagree. I can do more miles on the bike than I can in any car. I find it exceedingly hard to stand up and stretch while driving the car.

Ok, next comparison... Honda Rebel and Goldwing?! More senseable threads please! :haha:

Which one would be more likely to survive a RPG? Any former owners of either one, your experiences are welcomed.... ;)
