Had a wonderful little experience with one of our local sherriff's deputies this fine day. Thank God for little miracles. The county and deputy shall remain namesless...

Went for a little ride this afternoon to survey the storm damage in part of our state. There are miles and miles of county roads that run straight through cornfield after cornfield around here. Sometimes, but not very often mind you, sometimes I will occassionally twist the right thingy a little longer than usual. I thought I was on one of those deserted county roads this afternoon. So I twisted the right grip for an extended period, right up until the needle on the right was indicating about a buck forty. Thats when the lights turned on in the field road up ahead to my right...not headlights, but red, white and blue ones. Uh oh! This is not going to be good. :fie:

I get the Feej hauled down to a stop about a 1000 feet past the deputy. I turn the bike off, step off the bike and he pulls up behind. He steps out of the car and is obviously a little perturbed. As I turn around and take off my helmet the deputy, who shall remain nameless, looks at me close and says, "Well, John, what are you up to today?" :eek:mg2:

I was just pulled over by a high school buddy that I ran with for years in high school. He of the Suzuki GS1100E ilk when I had my CB900. We often exceeded the posted as youths. We proceeded to shoot the breeze and catch up on old times for 20 minutes or so. He just took delivery on a new ZX14 Kawi. He claims it will take the FJR. He said that he still enjoys blasting down this very road, 5,200 feet of corn on both sides. Told me to be careful and we bid adeiu.

As I was getting my gear back on he stopped as asked me how fast I thought I was going. I told him, "One forty." In the same dry tone he had in high school he replied, "It was only 137. I'd be just thinking about 5th gear."

Oh, we are going for a ride next Saturday. He wants to check out the ZX against the FJR. :eek:k:

Did you have to change your underwear after that?? If you hadn't had the good fortune to have a buddy behind the badge I'm pretty sure you would have been wearing the bracelets and would have been calling the honey to crack open the cookie jar for some bail money. Let the man's Kawi kick your *** on Saturday, it may be rightous payback....

Nice story! :)

Must be a MN thing.

I had a similar thing happen in 1988 (in Minnesota) on a 88 Honda Hurricane.

Highway patrol man who lived across the street from me clocked me at 130ish.

I was sentenced to lawn mowing duty the rest of the summer before I left for the Navy.

I was even more worried what the Misses was going to do. And yes, when I got the nearest town I stopped at the local gas station and headed right to the bathroom and got rid of the stress. When those lights came on I think I said, "Oh! ****!" about a hundred times...my heart was pounding about as fast as I was going. Didn't know I had that much adrenaline in my system ready to flood all my senses in that fraction of a second.

By the way, I am buying dinner next Saturday...and I know it won't be cheap...I understand what luck is all about...especially now!

run into another kid that you shouldn't have beat up when you were younger?

LOL. Great story.

You know, a real friend would have sweated you for a while before letting you off the hook.

Does this happen? Reminds me of a movie I saw that had the exact same thing happen ...

Man I better check who my neighbors are!

And I thought I was lucky Thursday when I got clocked doing 67 in a 35 and just got a warning. Sheesh. If I were you, now would be the time to buy some lotto tickets.

I was cruising down the OSR (Old San Antonio Road) several years back with the top down on my Vette and I was doing 95+ listening to the music!

A DPS Officer (Texas State Trooper) pulled me over and I thought "O ****!". After he asked me to get out of the car, he told me I had one chance to get out of it. He walked around to the front of my car and exclaimed "I'll be damned - you are one lucky SOG". I couldn't figure out how I had gotten out of a ticket by him walking to the front of my car - it turned out I got off because I had my front license plate on the car (most Vette owners don't put it on).

We talked about cars for a few minutes afterwards & he told me to slowdown and have a good day.

The funny thing was that I had just put my license plate on the weekend before because I got ticketed for NOT having it on in Arlington Texas.

Some times you just get lucky   !

Best Regards,

Shane

Take Radman w/ after all, he's got that Holeshot header, & 7 extra horses...

-bvw.
Or hell, maybe take Mortenson, see if he can live up to that license plate of his....

(For the non-locals: He has a personalized plate "BUCK60")

I did (almost ) the same thing yesterday. There is a road to 29 dreams with 3 straight (more or less) flat spots where you can see a +/- a mile or so with no in roads and only a few driveways. I had just got done "playing" around 110 and was on the way back down when a deputy tops the hill. I look down and I'm still around 80. As we past I was down to 60 and I gave a wave. No lights in the 50 zone, whew! my Ying was good! I got Yanged about 10 min later by the only dark cloud in the sky!

I'll take getting wet over the ticket any day!

Now that's a believable story!

Anecdotes anyone?
