FJR1300 (G2) PKT-075 Rearset Powerlet Installation

(G2) Powerlet PKT-075

A popular accessory for FJR owners is the addition of one or more powerlet® (www.powerlet.com) power outlets.

The outlets, and matching plugs, make for very secure, weather resistant power points. One of the handiest implementations is their dual-socket kit, designed specifically for the FJR, to be mounted using the seat lock mount.

The instructions provided state the installation can be completed in 20 minutes. Perhaps, if you’re not particular about the quality of your installation work. For the occasional mechanic, who pulls his FJR’s side covers once a year, this is probably a bit optimistic. Even so, their instructions assume you are basically going to just drape the cable across the top of the tool tray (under the seat); up the right-side chassis rail to the battery; and then zip-tie it in a few places.

Personally, I found this cable routing approach to be lacking. Ideally, cables should be neatly tucked away as much as possible. It prevents accidental chafing and avoids interference with future maintenance activities. As a result, I created the attached document, to illustrate one approach for your consideration.
