That looks like a nasty spill, eh? Glad you're okay.

I have my '05 dialed for me...maybe a couple more changes to go, but I rode an '06 quite a bit and I like it. Yes, there's a lot of farkling to do, but the '06 is, in my opinion, a better platform, unless you like all those electronic farkles that take up front nose room.

I've got a good picture of your license plate at WFO if you would like it.

Can we get some photos of the gear you were wearing?

Pics of the gear were in the link I posted at the beginning. It shows the rashed leathers and the AFU helmet

Glad your OK Mark, hope the e mail was recieved OK on the road.

Glad you guys are OK.

If you are in my neighborhood and need assistance(Albuquerque) let me know. I do have a trailer.

Hey Mark, glad you are OK man. Just got an email from Kasey telling me of the hit. Damn, all that work you have put into the front end, rear end, the list is huge. Hope you have the numbers for the insurance guys.

I'd get an '06 or '07 Mark. Really such a shame, but glad you're OK.

Phew!

Mark,

Whoaaa !! Really a bummer. Glad you're ok though and carrying on with your vacation -- good for you. We know the sick feeling you must have had when you surveyed the damage :(

Take care man.

Rog & Deb

I'm sorry to here of your bike's demise. The important thing is that you are ok.

I enjoyed riding with you at WFO 4 and hope to ride with you again some day.

.
How does the 2006 FJR compare with the 2004??

Comments?

My 2004 was totally dialed in to me.

Hate to leave her at the wrecker.

Mark

Fjr eh
I rode the '06 @ WFO. I purposely chose bad lines and made corrections in corners to see how the bike would react. Rock solid! The swingarm is a bit longer but they compensated for that by placing more weight forward. (I did take into account MY tires and shock).

T.C. made a valid point, there isn't the room under the nosepiece for electrical add-ons like PHIDs, etc. But if you are not going to do those type of improvements, I'd consider the newer bike. Hey, its only money! :clapping:

I'm so very happy to hear that neither of you are "seriously" hurt. Buises will heal, roadrash is really, really painful and will teach a rider to wear protective gear. Soooo, the lesson here is never slow down when being followed by a BMW?!?!?! :dribble:

Y'know, if you can get it home, you could harvest the rear shock (Wilbers?) and other stuff. Maybe even sell the "non-ticking" engine.

Uhm, what did Marci say?

I heard from the insurance company today.

They pay up to $500.00 towards the rental car.

And another $750.00 to fly home if I'd like to (not).

It was really hard to find a one way rental in FlagStaff, Ar.

Looks like my leathers and gear are not covered.

The Fjr is covered to $22,000.00

Adjusters should be looking at the bike in the following week.

If it is to be repaired, it will be taken to the Yamaha Dealer of my choice.

Pacific Yamaha, my dealer.

I'm using megson fitzpatrick for my additional insurance.

not ICBC (info for those living in BC)

I'll post up some pictures when I return home.

We're off to Vegas tomorrow morning, 5 riders in our group are looking for new rear tires.

The majority of the bikes are BMW's, the are two Ducati's and a VFR.

The Ducati's have been taking a beating.

Clutch, head bolt oil leak, main bearings failure and rear wheel bearings failure.

BMW, one deer strike and one totalled

FJR, one totalled (we'll see).

6400 kms so far.

thanks for all the concern.

The 6400 kms you guys rode make my 26kmiles trouble free miles seem really good. Thanks for making me feel good. :dribble:

Take care Mark, next time think twice about riding with those Beemer Boyz!!

After the shock of the accident wears thin, you can look forward to a new FJR and about two years of work to get all the farkles and adjustments to where your old bike was. Glad you walked away and good luck. Mike in Fremont, Ca

I haven't been on the board for a couple of days Mark - holy ****!

Deer strikes and BDC's are just part of the risks we run, but to get drilled from behind by a fellow rider - that just blows.

Glad to hear that you're OK Mark - things can be replaced, people can't. Take good care.

Talked to Mark a little while ago on his way through town here, he's heading over Hwy4 and then on north to Susanville for the evening. He and his riding buddy are sharing the car to finish their vacation.

Despite 2 totalled bikes, at least both riders were able to walk away from this incident relatively unscathed. IMO full riding gear saved both of them a lot of pain.
