Flag voids warranty on Harley

I coulda sworn what I read said clutch AND transmission. If it had just said clutch, I'd say he has no case. That's like trying to warranty brake pads. But even flags causing wind resistance should not have made the tyranny take a ****. Unless Harley builds **** trannies.

I don't know, I've never owned one, but I don't think I've ever heard anyone gripe about HD transmissions.

Pretty much all Hardley riders/owners are trannys.

But Baker builds "transmissions" for 'em.

HRZ the fox news article does say clutch and tranny. To me it looks like Fox is stirring the pot from an article written by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel see

Fine and dandy, the one that uses the chute comes down slower because the chute creates much more drag.
I'm confused and seem to have gotten lost here. I don't see where anyone is arguing against the idea that a chute creates more drag than a flag/ribbon, but the flag/ribbon will create drag in the same manner as a chute, just not the same amount.

Anyone who's every ripped a small flagpole off a bike's rear tail pack "luggage rack" when the flag was only about 1' square, knows that there is drag associated with flags.

Some seem to be making a point that all flags have less drag than all chutes. There's probably some calculations that a determined person could use to compare a flag of certain size to a chute of certain size. There will be a point at which either could have more drag than the other.

The bottom line there is not a ZERO affect from flying a flag on a bike. The larger the flag, the number of flags, and the faster that bike moves, the more the drag load increases.

Imagine what Yamaha would say if they ever saw Patriot's bike.
Just sayin'...
Maybe, Yes Sir we can hear the problem but we can't figure out how to get to it. Also the tire manufacture

says the uneven tire wear is due to your horn creating a drag on one side of the bike.

I agree...there's SOME drag.

The question I'd have for Harley is how they determined how much drag it takes to ruin a tranny??

And how they KNOW the flags caused it??

Where's the research that shows flying 2 flags is ok but flying 4 will ruin the tranny?

I just say it's ******** that they can say "Oops! He flew 3 flags so the warranty claim is void!!"

Who's to say the Tranny just took a dump??

Don't you guys see the danger in this?

What's to stop YAMAHA from saying "Oops you used a larger than stock aftermarket top case and the additional drag was more than the stock case so THAT is what ruined your Tranny" Same thing.

I misunderstand your surprise. This is nothing new. You preach like we are standing at the top of the slippery slope while actually we are well down it. Manufacturers have been using all types of excuses for years to deny warranty claims. I wonder how many hard drives we could fill with the various threads across the internet asking "If I do this, will it void my warranty?"

Heck, I remember Suzuki denying claim after claim on their 2nd gear on the GSX-R750 claiming it was the "Wheelie gear" and folks who filed claims were abusing their bikes. I'd be pissed if it were my bike because I know I can't wheelie for crap.

Bottom line, if you use your bike for ANYTHING other than it's intended use and design, you run the risk of having your claim denied. Running up and down the highway as a mobile flag pole was not what HD designed the bike for. Harley's are designed for sitting in the parking lot of the local bar and looking tough.

OMFG Who the F cares? Winter is OOOOOVERRRRRRR! Get out and ride.
Oh nice work you Peckerheads, you have gone and woken up Marky-Mark! Once Bokerfork is out of his hibernation, it will only be a matter of time before Dr. Rich and MadMike2 show up here and we all will regret it! Ya Jackasses!
