When I was on the Blue Ridge Parkway, I encountered a number of Goldwings headed in the opposite direction that had what appeared to be flashing headlights. I thought at first that I was being alerted to the presence of law enforcement ahead, but that wasn't the case. Then I saw more and more wings with flashy lights. What's the deal?

Thanks for the explanation Rogue. Funny thing was that is was Wings and ONLY wings that had them. I never saw one other type of bike with them. They did...make me slow down...at least at first, not because I thought they were cops, but because they were warning me about cops. <_< It was a freaky scene coming through some of those unlit tunnels, with those flashies coming at you the other way.

Now I know.

The only time I ever saw a bike with a modulator running was on a GoldWing. It looks like a good idea when you realize that the front of the FJR is not very big, and that is the part seen (or not seen!) by drivers who might pull out in front of you.

My feejer has one, as do a few others on here that I know of - it's great. I've noticed people do a double-take before pulling out on me, so you know they saw. Being seen is at least half the battle.

A very big group buy?
Couple of weeks ago in VT I saw a BMW and a generic 600cc sport bike with them flashy lights.

Grumpy has modulators on his FJR. They are annoying as hell when he's behind you. But then again, that ain't very often. Usually you are looking at the ***-end of his bike just before you run out of the turn!

:D

Jeff, you have to admit that they got a lot of cars to move over?

Jim

Check your state also. I don't think their legal in all states.
DOT code. They HAVE to be legal in all states. Carry a copy of the code (comes with the modulators) in with the insurance and other papers (Yavole!) in case some local yokel wants to pitch a fit about it (without cause).

BTW: If grumpy annoys you at least you aren't ignoring him and won't end up saying to the ambulance driver, "I didn't see him!"

You mean you were in VT and didn't stop by and see if I could ride? What's up with that?? (just kidding)
