Sorry to hear that Vic, but I'm going there, even if by myself. So if anyone is still interested, I'll be at Yahala Bakery, in Yahala, at 1:00p.

Well, it turned out to be a beautiful day! Mid 80's, and low humidity, gave an air conditioner feel to the ride. Took SR33 up to Howie- in- the-Hills, and then a couple of back roads to Yahala Bakery. Jim (FLFJRS) was in the parking lot, waiting for me, when I pulled in. Good thing too, as the place was packed with people! I would estimate 80 people there, which is not would one expect at a "bakery", but this isn't any ordinary bakery. Jim was there with his beautiful other half, Maryanne(sp?), on Jim's Voyager.

I decided, with much thought,

on trying the fruit covered cheesecake and the apple streusel...yummy!

There was a live band there, playing various blues songs, outside under the trees surrounded by tables, where everyone enjoyed their pastries.

Of course Jim was excited, as a kid on Christmas morning, to show me his new origami talent!

Not really, but I'll have to let Jim tell the back story to that photo. :)

It was a very pleasant ride, with good pastries, and some time with a fellow rider. In other words....

....a great day! Thanks Jim!

Rob

Too long a story to tell here, but suffice to say it has to do with family. Great time, great food as usual and good entertainment.

You who shall remain nameless, you missed a GREAT day of riding. We took the old Voyager and had great ride two up.

Let's do this again!

Rob, good pictures of this fun location. If you have not been to the Yalaha Bakery, then you just have not lived. Yes, there were lots of people there, but not as crowded as we have seen before.

I tell you what. As soon as my nightmare is over, we'll plan another trip over there. I'm sure I would've loved it. I'm a major fan of good pastries. I've had some in every country I've been to. They're all different and all wonderful. See you guys soon! :)

Yeah Vic, you get over this work thing, and we'll head back over. Hell, we can do some good ol' "Florida Boy" ridin' anywhere in the state for that matter! I would really like to explore this state more, as I've been doing on my own, and with Steve. I found a really nice seafood place, on the west coast ( near Crystal River), that has a 10 mile twisting road through salt marshes, and has an outside bar!

We Floridians need to connect more in this great state!

I'd love to explore Florida more, Rob. Way up north there are rolling hills and everything! Plus my blood pressure will be nice and low by then.

Speaking of exploring, Steve and I went to the Edison/Ford Museum this last Saturday. It was a good ride, with some morning fog, down there. We slabbed it (I75) to make time, and came back I75,SR 64, Duette Rd., and SR 37. A great day, and learned a few things too! Here's a video of our ride down, it was uneventful until the VERY end!

Took a solo ride yesterday, and somehow ended up at a favorite restaurant (Perk's), and tried their crab sandwich. I thought it would be a crab cake sandwich, boy was I ever wrong! Still, it was good!

Bike is down at the moment (tires needed), and I'm busy for awhile, but when I get back I'll check back and see if anyone wants to ride and do some Florida exploring! :)

I know this is an old thread, but if you guys are interested in getting together for lunch sometime just say the word. I have a couple of friends that would like to meet up too. We know all the back country Florida roads like the back of our hands. We're from Fort Myers and Naples. I'm thinking a place somewhere in the middle of the state.

Sounds good to me, pbs. Give us as much advance warning as possible and I'm sure this can happen. I go to Fort Myers and Naples airports on a regular basis on my bike for work. I'd like to learn where the good riding is in that area. I never have a chance to linger when I'm there. :)

Welcome PBS! We are eager to ride and meet others. Would like to learn more about the Myers/Naples area too. It will be around October before I do anymore rides over an hour, 'cause it's too friggin hot! C'mon Winter!

This morning it was 50 degrees in Maggie Valley....50!!! My God, did it feel good! Highs 70's in the mountains and low 80's in the valley. Screw that 95 degree, 90% humidity ****!

Great suggestion pbs. I welcome the chance to meet up and especially to ride with majic and LK again.

Great guys.

PBS...sounds like a plan. Been hibernating over the hot summer, but cooler weather is not far down the road. My son goes to FGCU, so always welcome a chance to head down that way. I'm sure I could snag a few Central Florida guys to ride along.
