Any NorCal guys on the forum have any experience with "Folsom Cycle" on Clarksville Rd, Folsom ?? Good or bad.

I'm changing dealership and checked these guys out today. They say they're a 5 star dealership, have 10 regular FJR customers and are fully conversant with the bike. The service manager (Lou) seems to be a straight shooter. Any of his 10 regulars on this forum?

Thanks guys.

I stopped in there about 3 weeks ago to ask if they had any experience with FJR tickers. I recieved a dumb look from the service desk guy and was asked "what's a ticker?"

Needless to say, Zac at Roseville has my bike, should be done in a few more weeks.

If you don’t mind going about 20 minutes away from Folsom. There is a great shop called “Cycle Works” at 5526 Suite #1 Auburn Boulevard in Sacramento on the edge of Citrus Heights.

The owner is Steve Bryant 916-348-6005.

He pretty much runs his shop himself or at least he used to.

I found him after my Virago broke down when I was living in Citrus Heights about 5 years ago, and after Yamaha of Sacramento gave me a F*ING STUPID quote to repair my bike. I’m a girl you see... So of course like any proper mechanics in the industry they assumed I was just another dummy… :angry2:

Completely frustrated about Yamaha because I had towed my bike there a week prior and I thought they were going to help my situation… NOT…. I called the towing company back to get my bike out of there ASAP and since I was new in the area and had absolutely no clue where to go next, I asked the towing guy (it was a specialized motorcycle towing company) if he knew a shop who wouldn’t try to RIP ME OFF like Yamaha did. :(

He towed me directly to Steve’s shop 5 minutes down the road from the Yamaha dealer.

Steve repaired my bike for less then half of the $1500 Yamaha wanted to do the job…

I’ve never found a shop/mechanic as good or as HONEST as Steve since I moved down to Santa Barbara. I would definitively try giving him a call… B)

I have heard nothing but good things about Steve at Cycle Works +1

Plus, Zac at Roseville is a great guy to talk to regarding the FJR. He knows and loves em. He had an '05 and and '07 is gonna be in his garage soon!

For a 3 fer good news, a member here was a die hard customer of Folsom Cycle. He loved em all the way up to when his FJR got smacked by a car. However, Bill will sing Folsom praises. PM him at BBIII

Hi Roger,

The answer is I don't know anymore, things have changed.

Folsom Cycle Service is managed by a guy named Lou. They have a mechanic that loves the FJR and knows what he is doing, but you have to ask for him to work on it and it will take 2-3 weeks to get on the waiting list. The other mechanic only likes dirt bikes, but works on street bike under protest. Sorry but I can't remember the mechanics names.

I had great service from Lou because my wife made friends with Lou's fiancée Courtney who worked the service desk. Courtney was always able to slip my bike in for a quick service and tire change with only 1 days notice. Now that they are married and Courtney is pregnant, she can't work there because of the fumes - so I would say the service is now just typical of any MC shop.

I'm fully cured after the Georgetown incident, I miss riding, but I'm smart enough to realize that an aggressive driver and a powerful motorcycle are a bad mix. The only thing worse than that would be an aggressive driver on a loud low powered machine (HD) - I would cut someone off and they would run me down.

I have an appointment this Saturday to have them do the 17mpg dash recall. When I called them initially, I spoke to the service mgr and he sounded like he was aware of at least that problem. We'll see how the work goes.
