When I bought my brand new 2014 FJR, I removed the sidebags in the dealer show room and had my wife carried them in her car to take them home. Then I never used it, except mounting them in the garage to pin it. I found that a duffel bag and my Givi E46 top case are enough for my need.

$700 + shipping? I'm in the Los Angeles area and I'm not sure how to ship them safely without damage so for now only a local pick up is desired.

Of course they include the OEM liner bags.

Thanks.

+100!! Box 'em up and put them on a shelf. When I saw the post I thought - oh some poor guy wrecked his FJR without the bags mounted. <-- this would be the only reason to sell IMHO.

Either way - GL!
Reconsider selling those bags. You may not need them, but when the time comes that you want to sell the bike, it'll be a tough sale without them.
I'd never buy an FJR without the bags.

Just my 2 cents.
Thanks for the advise. I appreciate it. I haven't thought about it. I just thought that I never used them that I don't need them. May be i should keep them...
Thanks for the reply. I now really need to reconsider :)
I put 10k miles on the bike since I bought it and have made several multi-day trips without the saddlebags so I thought I don't need them :)

Agreed with all above. I don't think anyone would buy one of these without the bags and even if you trade it in that dealer would want them to be with the bike or drop the price to a level where they could replace them.

Mike, I always ride w/ a trunk and NO BAGS .... It makes me feel 'thinner' and I can get in/out of the garage easier.....

...Until I take a trip of 3-4 days or more. Then I have to dig around (under the stairway) thru the other suitcases and such to find them.

Like others have said, this bike just WORKS w/ bags, even if you rarely or never need them, they go w/ the bike and should stay together.

+1; I'd never buy an FJR without its bags...I'd wager that most FJR-shoppers would think the same. Pack them away and keep. On the other hand, it's your bike, so do as you will...just something to keep in mind.

Thank you all! I appreciate your inputs. The sale is now canceled based on the advise here :)

Or may be I can trade with a set of FJ09 bags which are narrower.

Me too I always have the top box on the bike (Give E46).

Thanks again!

Personally, I'd keep the original set of bags for possible use, or when you sell or trade the bike-like others have said.

I only use my bags for trips of 3 days or more, or such as going to an event where I can securely store my riding gear once there. Otherwise, I use a Givi top case for the majority of the time.

I set my hard bags on a shelf out of the way, but ready if I ever need them.

The fellow Forumites have given you some excellent advice. If you still have the boxes the bags game in from Japan, keep the bags in the boxes if you do not plan to use them. If you ever sell the bike they will enhance the value if they are pristine. Should you ever have,God forbid, a mishap to the extent the bike is salvage only, you will be able to sell those bags for a damn good price!! I too use the bags only for multiple days rides. I store mine in the garage on a high shelf covered.

Thank you for your advise. No, I don't have the boxes. They didn't give them to me and I didn't know. When I bought my 14 FJR, it was in the show room with the 2 bags installed. After I signed the paper, I took them off and put them in the car. Now they are sitting in a closet :)

I think I didn't like the weight of the 2 bags and the additional width so I never used them. I strapped on a big duffel bag on the back seat together with the Givi E46 top box and a magnetic tank bag were all I needed for several long trips.

I may go find on the FJ09 forum to see if anybody wants to trade their smaller saddlebags with mine :) (I read that they are interchangeable with the FJR?)

Thank you all!

Again, IMO, I'd heed the advice of what others have passed on to you. The FJ09 bags could serve a nice purpose but looking down the road, and if you could swing it financially, I still think you'd want the original bags come resale time. Personally, if I was looking to buy your bike used at some point and you didn't have the original bags but only the smaller city bags, it would be a knock against. OTOH, if you had the originals along with the smaller ones, it might move it up a notch against other bikes for sale. And of course, I'd bet there'd be interest in the city bags should you decide to sell them separately at some point also. See? Just another way we're here to help you spend money.

+1 - I ride scooter-style 90% of the time. All the bags on a big trip.

Keep the bags.
