Was just checking: these things had a 6 speed, 6.3 gal tank, and were rated at 165 hp carrying 490 lbs (dry weight).

I've had 2 Blackbirds ('97 and '03), and still have the latter with around 13,000 miles on it. Honda made model years '97 through '07, but imported to the US only the '97 through '03 models. The '97 and '98 were carbureted, FI after that. There were a number of minor changes at various points during their production, each refining a bike that was a home-run even in its first year. Mine's got a number of aftermarket upgrades, like Traxxion Dynamics suspension and lighter wheels, but other than being a bit lighter than OEM, the only power upgrades are a Micron 4-2-1 header w/ CF can, and FI mapping via a Dynojet PC-III. It also has a Speedo Healer with a push-button feature allowing highest speed readout (since reset) on the digital speedo ('01 and later models upgraded instrument displays to the best I've seen on any bike).
The aftermarket stuff went on mine at about 3500 miles (just under 3000 when I bought it), after which I took it to the coast in '06 for some sea level romping. From about a 70 mph rolling start, I applied right wrist torque on a long straight until my fear of vehicle impoundment and jail caused me to back off. 173 mph and still pulling hard. Smoothest engine this side of a Wing, nearly bullet proof engine, great aerodynamics, arm stretching acceleration and dead sexy to look at. It mostly sits in the garage since the FJR gets most of the miles, but I can't get enough money for the XX to be worth selling it -- not in light of what it is.
IMO, this is a real deal in that condition, esp. with those expensive aftermarket Corbin hard bags. And CAJW -- that's enough miles that Cali registration is no issue at all. Go fer it, and we'll molest our Sierra passes together at even higher speeds.
