Hoping someone here will have either already delt with this or know where to turn.

Have a 2000 Ford Excursion, today the wifey tells me she has no brake lights, (nor turn signals since they are the same on Fords).

I told her to stop by the closest auto parts and have them check the fuse. It was blown, she put a new one in and still nada.

Of course she checked all the other obvious stuff. Tonight I took a look and the fuses pop immediately if (with hazzards on, or off). Obviously there's a short somewhere.

I took all the bulbs out, they are all good, the front running lights/turn signals all have power, but nothing will flash.

Not sure which direction to check next? (It's dark and I don't have a garage this will fit in to play with it till tomorrow).

Flasher relay? Something else more or less obvious?

I pulled the tow light adapter figuring it was probalby shorted but no such luck :(

Any tips/ideas welcome.

Bad ground? Try using the turn signals to see if it is one bulb blowing the fuse. That's where I would start. A flasher relay is cheap so I would also try that before getting into anything too deep.

If it's got trailer wiring, check that as well. I wore the insulation off and experienced similar issues.
