Well I just caught a bit of Overhauling and they were putting a "Ford Racing 327" into a 69 Mustang. They said it was a stroked 302...... Well the Chevy 302 was a de-stroked 327! Does this mean that Ford has finally caught up to 1961 Chevy technology?

Let the Bow-Tie/Blue-Oval flaming begin! :p :p :p :p

I'm such a loser. My uncle owns a Z-06 and I haven't gotten around to riding the 2-1/2 hours to his place for him to let me drive it.

He'll probably be looking to settle the score from the last time Eve & I dusted his ass on his V-Star 1100. I'll put Eve in his passenger seat and then we'll let the machines speak. :assassin:

And Chev actually had a 327 in 1917. Not the same version, of course, but... One can nowadays pretty much come up with any cube number they want. Everybody and their mum is cutting cranks and casting blocks. Several outfits sell 427 inch Chev small blocks. Popular Ford small block is your basic 347, but they also have combos well over 400 inches. This from an engine that started as a 221 way back, the Chev a 265. CadCam and alloy/casting technology has made anything possible.

Make that 2.5 hr trip!! Especially if it's the latest model, (over 500hp off the showroom floor). I've driven many Zo6's and they take driving on four wheels to another level. Bowtie power!!!

Oh, I know that. What struck me as very funny was how they came up with it.

IIRC (and I never claimed to have a great memory :p ):

In the late 60's Ford & GM both needed 5 liter motors for the Trans Am series.

So Ford punched out their 289 to 302 (5 liter) and GM de-stroked their 327 (one of the most popular Chevy small blocks of that era) to 302 and both motors ended up with identical bore & stroke.

Now a Ford 302 is being made into a 327 (which would be the same bore & stroke as the popular GM 327 which was the basis of the GM 302).

I just found it to be very funny!
