Fire is now in NM.

Hope it stays away from our cabin.

Luna, 12 highway miles is on pre evacuation.

Just praying we have the same luck as Eagar.

https://inciweb.org/incident/2262/ Dear Joe and Cec, Donna, Seth and I are praying for you and yours! We sincerely hope that your beautiful mountain cabin is spared, this Wallow fire is such an incredible human and nature tragedy!

Thanks Don,

You all will have to come up later this summer,

if we still have it.

Joe

They evacuated Luna Sat afternoon.

We took a bunch of stuff home with us yesterday just in case.

Talked to the neighbor a little while ago and the fire is moving

north east. I think we will be OK if the wind does not shift.

Looks to me we may be out of the woods. This has kept me up a couple

nights.

So Don it looks like you will be able to come up some time

this summer between your travels.

Joe

Here are photographs of The Wallow Fire burn area on Arizona Highway '666' (US 191), The Devil's Highway, taken yesterday by AZ Beemers President Brian Boles.

"I pulled off for some photos at Blue Vista. Here's a pano looking south.

Most of what you see in this shot is part of the burn area. You can see the burn marks in the brown section, but notice that there is a lot of green areas also.

This fire didn't leave the amount of scorched earth that the Rodeo-Chediski did. Maybe the high winds helped to scatter the fire around.

Here's the view looking north. Very similar.

Also looking north.

Here's a section, just south of Hannigan Meadow that got completely burnt.

P1020110.jpg

But most of the road looks like this. Some scorched trees, but plenty of survivors also.

Here's Hannigan Meadow lodge. Wouldn't know there was a fire from this shot. There are some large burnt sections just behind (west) of the lodge.

Here's the meadow. Still looks pristine.

The fire seems to have been more intense the closer it got to Alpine. Some of the burn areas are larger.

This is probably the worst burnt area. In this area, the trees and everything on the ground burnt. Notice the remains of a sign that probably used to say something like "ONly you can prevent forest fires".

The fires came very close to the little valley that Alpine sits in, but didn't enter the valley itself. So most of Alpine looks just the way it did. The big concern in Alpine is flooding, similar to what happend north of Flagstaff last year."

PHOENIX - Two men have been charged in connection with causing the Wallow Fire that ended up burning more than 538,000 acres in Arizona and Western New Mexico.

Cousins David Wayne Malboeuf, 24, and Caleb Joshua Malboeuf, 26, are each charged with five counts related to the unattended campfire they started causing the Wallow Fire, which began on May 29.

The fire was fueled by dry and windy conditions, destroying a total of 32 residential structures, four commercial structures and 36 outbuildings. The fire surpassed the Rodeo-Chediski Fire to become the largest wildfire in Arizona's history.

Residents in Greer, Spingerville, Eager, Nutrioso, Alpine, Blue River and Sunrise were all evacuated over the course of the fire.

The total cost of battling the blaze was more than $79 million.

Both defendants face counts of causing timber to burn, leaving a fire unattended and un-extinguished, leaving a fire without completely extinguishing it, causing and failing to main control of a fire and building a campfire without removing all flammable material from around the campfire adequate to prevent its escape.

“Our national forests are among our most precious resources and we all have a responsibility to care for them when we visit,” stated U.S. Attorney Dennis K. Burke of the District of Arizona.“This devastating fire destroyed pristine national forest, scenic wilderness, and numerous nearby homes and cabins. Its cost for future generations goes well beyond the resources used to fight it.”

Investigators discovered the fire started from an unattended and un-extinguished campfire in the Bear Wallow area after the two men went on a hike.

The cousins weren't able to get back to their gear. Investigators found the gear at the campsite along with their two dogs they had left tied up. One of the dogs was dead.

If the two men are convicted, each offense carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail, a $5,000 fine or both.

What's with our State and fire this year? Rosie's Den, very popular Biker's Bar and Restaurant since 1930, burned down. Luckily, Rosie is real tough and she'll rebuild it!

Fire devastates iconic

Arizona bar, restaurant!

WHITE HILLS -- ARIZONA: The owner of a

landmark bar and restaurant that

drew locals, weary travelers and

Nevada residents who wanted

lottery tickets says that she'll

rebuild after a fire tore through

the building.

Rose Larsen owns Rosie's Den

along U.S. 93 south of Hoover

Dam. She told The Associated

Press on Monday that she's

devastated that some 20 people

now are out of work.

But the 85-year-old Larsen says

she plans to rebuild the 1930s

landmark in nearly identical

fashion.

She says the community support,

including donations and volunteer

work, has been overwhelming.

Fire officials say the blaze broke

out early Friday morning. The

cause hasn't been released.

Larsen says the adjacent gift shop

was untouched and open for

lottery sales Monday, but the

restaurant and the bar were

destroyed.
