While installing new springs and servicing my forks, I had to use a $10 bottle of fork oil to rinse out the crud in my forks. And even then the oil came out a little dirty. Has anyone used diesil fuel to flush out their forks? I think it would work ok if you used a little fork oil for the last rinse. That way you would get the diesil out and not harm the seals. Any other ideas? Maybe I'm just being cheap, but the next time I flush the forks I would have to use 1 bottle of fork oil for each leg. Seems like a lot of money down the drain

On another thread, Radman suggestion using Automatic Tranny fluid...

I picked up a couple of quarts at the local Auto Zone for less than $2 each...

So people do read what I post! That is just so....nice! :D Tranny fluid does great as a fork flush medium. If especially grungy, I'll pump a half a can of 3M brake clean in each leg, let set a while, pump a few times, then drain and run some tranny fluid through to finish. Diesel not the best to use, hard to insure removal.

Mineral spirits first...then spray liberally with brake cleaner. You could eat off it after that. :p :D
