Someone here has probably got a spare laying around. I've never heard of a rod breaking. How in the world did this occur?

I heard of them breaking......................when the mechanic takes the fork apart. It did not break before they started to take things apart.

I checked with the place in Georgia that rebuilds forks they said they have no old oem units laying around he said they give them back to owners if any one has a left canister rod let me know.

You might also look for a GEN I fork on fleabay, never know what will turn up.

Good luck with the search / repair!

That what broke the tip of rod where the valve is i need that whole unit i ordered part but it won't be shipped till the 28th if any one has there old unit after a upgrade I would like to buy it.

Interesting topic for me since my left fork seal is leaking. I have an '08 with 30K miles. I have been extremely busy and haven't had time to deal with it. I ordered the thin plastic thing-a-ma-jiggy to wipe the seal clean but haven't tried it yet. If that doesn't work, I'll take it off and send somewhere for a rebuild.

I suspect the Seal Mate will fix your leaking seal because mine was REALLY leaking and it fixed it.

Hint, don't try to put the Seal Mate in too deep when you use it - it only has to go maybe a quarter inch past the seal lip to work. Otherwise you won't be able to move it around the tube to clean the seal.

Nobody buys milk in plastic jugs any more???? You'd rather send $$$$ to the guy that makes a thin piece of plastic all purty and stuff? For 5 bucks plus shipping, I get 2 gallons of milk and as many sealmates as I can cut up outa the jugs. Not to mention wheel protectors for tire changes.

I have the fork seal tool and I have the rod if it is the one that is thin and is used to adjust the preload. I bought 2 when I upgraded to gold seals and race tech springs which I installed myself. I have sent a PM with contact info. If I get a call and I have what he needs I will ship it before I leave for NERDS in the AM.

I think I'am a little past that point being that the forks are apart and on work bench we tried the seal made no help.

Thanks for the tip, I hope this works for me and I don't get to Angus' point. My seal is bad enough that it is dripping on the floor.

sounds real familiar - my left seal was dripping on the floor too. I kept looking at the bike for the HD emblems....

Try the SEALMATE more than once if you have to and make sure you bounce on the front end a lot to seal them back up.

The SEALMATE works in MANY instances.
